What's the best response when someone calls me "pathetic" for being single since birth?

A female friend who sounds like she's been in a lot of wonderful relationships enjoyed talking to me about her experiences. I listened and gave little reactions when needed because she seemed to be having a great time. After a while, she asked about my past relationships to which I replied that I had none. She looked shocked and blurted "You're pathetic". Wow. I didn't know how to respond to that so I didn't say anything. Then she went on to discuss more of her stories.

The best response, I think is what you did... which is to say nothing really, why entertain a comment like that, it will get you nowhere, because in reality, for someone who has had that many "wonderful" experiences with people, they really have to be wonderful themselves... and for someone to just, right out, tell someone else they're pathetic, well... this is not a wonderful thing to do... lol.

So I don't know, maybe she was feeling pathetic that day or she has been like that for sometime, so she has to make up all these "wonderful" stories about her, who knows really... is just strange that someone just blurts out stuff like that.

How did she say it (tone of voice). Like was it jokingly or was she dead serious and meant it? If it was clear she really thought that, personally that person wouldn't be my "friend" anymore. That's no friend.

Tell her to find a newborn baby and whatever age that is considered too young to be in a relationship. Once she does then she can talk
