Are good looks extremely important when it comes to picking a partner to grow old with?

For me looks does kind of matter I’m not saying he needs to be extremely attractive but he can’t be ugly or good looking he needs to be average looking and had a good personality and it’s hard to find. Good men basically are hard to find. Here’s the list of things he needs to have from the most important to least important.

1: (most important) Maturity/Understanding
2: Loyal
3: Personality
4: Kindness
5: Height (need to be at least 3 cm taller than me and shorter than 175cm)

6: Fit body (as long as he’s fit that’s enough he doesn’t need to spend hours at the gym just do the abs, exercise and stay healthy. A little muscular is ok but not the steroids type)

7: lovely smile (can be plain looking but have a cute smile)

8: (Least Important) Must earn at least $1800 or slightly more per month. (If my pay is like $2000 he needs to have a pay that it’s similar to mine he can earn $1800 and I won’t have a problem)

Cost of living is expensive but it’s good to go on a budget when it comes to food, raising a kid and other things but houses is still the most expensive. So yeah that’s why salary of the partner is not that important

Sigh, so you want a cookie cutter, I read it at first and thought huh, she isn't putting the usual I want a 6' tall millionaire, then I saw the restrictions. You want someone who is the same as you. Similar income, similar height, maturity and understanding according to how you define them.

So you would reject a man who is 183 cm tall, has similar values, makes 5000/month, and doesn't want to exercise? The income is more realistic for a barebones buying a home and having a family. You're looking at dating and mating as a competition and want to make sure you don't get with anyone who could be "better"

That tiered, leagues stuff ends in high school. People fall in love with other people who make them feel good, secure, and happy. If you reject that love because of an arbitrary list, you will wind up posting a shorter list when you're single, have been rode hard and put away wet at 25.

It is nice to have somebody that takes care of themselves. My father used to say that when you go out with a girl, check her teeth. If she has bad teeth she probably does not take such good care of herself. If she doesn't take care of herself, she will not take care of you either. They do not have to be gorgeous but just a little bit health conscious.

As long as it's not all based on looks I do believe that you need to be attracted to your partner, so appearance is fairly important. Attraction is what makes the difference between a friendly and romantic relationship, so a guy and a girl in a couple should be able to turn each other on visually too. I wouldn't bat an eye if my girl wanted me to be fit at all (and she kind of want that, she loves the classical fit guy type), so hitting the gym to be hot!

For me yes it is, every girl i dated was at least above average looking. I like slim girls with a nice proportional body. I prefer girls who are naturally beautiful. Beautiful face, eyes and smile as well. I can't be with a girl i dont find attractive. About money i dont care how much she makes, its whatever.

i don't know that i'd call them "extremely" important. but definitely important. people love making the argument that it's superficial and therefore morally bad. to which i say: yes it is superficial but there's a lot of superficial markers of good health, which is important, if you want a long term partner. what good is a partner that dies prematurily due to their lifestyle or bad health?
