I'm currently in a failing marriage that I'm trying to end in a civil manner. After years of verbal and emotional abuse, I checked out a long time ago but just recently came to the realization that he's not gonna change until he deals with his mental health issues but due to the trauma I will never see him as more than a friend. Because of kids, I want to end it on good terms so we're in counseling just to get everything out there and, if all goes well, help him realize that we don't work together.
All that being said, I have fallen for one of my best friends who is everything I always wanted. As we got to know each other, I just felt this connection on a deep level that I can't put into words. I want to tell him but I'm scared of how he might react. He currently lives in Illinois and I'm in Texas. I have suspected that he likes me too but not said anything because of me being married but then again I could just be reading too much into things. Should I tell him or keep it to myself?
