Is it normal in a abusive relationship for the victim to have on and off feelings towards their abuser even after forgiving them and going back?

By on and off I mean they may have forgave them a bunch of times and on days where their abusive boyfriend or girlfriend may not have even been abusive toward them on that day or in some weeks or so, they still contemplate if they made the right decision to return. They consider leaving again or come up with excuses to not be around their abuser as much. It’s like they forgive them but they still aren’t very comfortable around them.
