How to deal with your love partner who want to live somewhere else?

My girlfriend and I been together for 7 years and recently started a family. Before we have a baby my girlfriend grew up in nj and moved to NYC to live with me. She never like living in nyc and always wanted me to move to nj. She end up gotten pregnant then Covid hit she went back to nj with her mother. Ever since the baby was born she insisted that we should live separate even if have baby together. I disagree with it always believed should live together when having a family. The reasons why I didn’t want to move because of my employment and bought a co-op few years back and don’t want to give it up. So she frustrated and said maybe best to move on. How can I deal with this situation?

I absolutely agree with you.
My nephew is dealing seemingly with the same situation. You said girlfriend not wife. And I'm not trying to get judgmental but I am old fashioned and this is why I say marriage is important. Why that piece of paper really does signify something. Because it signifies a LIFETIME commitment. It says I love you! Regardless of whether that's in NYC or New Jersey! I'm concerned that her moving back to New Jersey is the start of a division. And with you being linked because you both have a child together. It now complicates everything.
I mean moving back with her mom? If you said now you were willing to get a place for you and her in New Jersey would she do that? Or has she decided she just wants to live with her mom. Because regardless, if you love this girl you have to stay together. Wherever that may be. But if she doesn't even want to live with you anymore you have a much deeper problem.
