Why would a man want money from a woman, WHY?

I'm shocked to hear that there are a couple cases of a woman (usually coming from a wealthy family or one with a bit more income) getting used for not just sex but money too. My friend fell victim to a long-term scammer, FUA.

That guy already had sex but that wasn't enough. Their relationship lasted for 3 years. He still took half of her savings from one account and isn't returning it back. He left to another state far away.

He was already getting sex and could've left. Men that use women typical are just after sex and that's it. Why would a man want money from a woman? WHY? What is he gaining from that? What purpose?

Assuming he already earns good or at least average, has a car, has property and really doesn't need our income... why would he be after a woman's money?

That’s not exactly a new development! Romance scammers going after money have been around for decades, if not longer. The internet has just made it worse. Every other year some prominent rich woman is approached or actually falls victim to such scams. Even the supposedly well-protected BMW heiress got defrauded.

Yes we can enjoy sex too (depends with who he is) but we get hurt more when a man walks away after sex, using us for that. Men have more ability/capacity to distinguish sex from emotions and not get attached.
What my friend wasn't prepared for is a man not just using her for sex but for money too, a man leaving her after scamming her with money.
