If u tell ur best friend of the opposite sex that ur leaving town for 3 months, & first thing they say is "my stomach hurts" what does it mean?

We are very close friends. People often thought we were together, but we're not. I'm leaving town for three months, so i dropped the news to him today, and first thing he said was "my stomach hurts".

Is this a normal response? Is it true that you can feel emotions in your stomach?

It either means his stomach just happened to hurt at that time, he said it symbolically to mean he’ll miss you a lot or hearing that did in fact make him sad enough to upset his stomach.


Yes, emotions do effect your organs and how they function. The old saying “calm down or you’ll make yourself sick” exists for a reason.


For example, a sudden surge of anxiety or fear can be enough to cause vomiting for some people.
