He really chose people that treated him like shit?

His mother stabbed him, kicked him out in the cold. Siblings ostracized him because of his mother. His so-called friend from high school cut him off because he told her he had a girlfriend at the time. Then she popped back up and got his info from his brother and he's back to being friends with her. His own so-called friend kept leaving him and even beat his ass and kicked him out of an apartment they shared together. But my mom and I helped him when he had nowhere to go. I do something supposedly bad and he no longer wants to talk to me but they did all that and still get the love. He deserves anything that comes after this. To top it all off he has lung cancer and supposedly was given 5 years. he's only 26.

I don't get his lack of loyalty to the people he should be loyal to

Well loyalty shouldn't be expected, that would be wrong. I mean if Hitler told you to jump off a building would you do it. You're not, he just doesn't realize it. And why does anyone keep bad influences in their life. I know people who smoke and drink, and are in terrible condition, yet they continue to do so. My dad for example, keeps smoking even though he says he's trying to quit

Give him time. I use to be like him, until I realized that I was becoming like those that treated me badly. I cut them out of my life.
