My husband lied to me about something stupid?

My husband told me last week that his schedule changed at work and they needed him to run the store until closing (8pm) by himself on Wednesday and Thursday. He put emphasis on the fact that it was going to suck being at work "alone" till close on those days because it would be boring. Usually he works out in processing with like 8 other dudes who he has known for years so running the store front (where he usually never has to work) would be a big change for him. Anyways, I didn't think much of it honestly. Like, I even agreed with him. Like "yeah that would absolutely suck". Never put much more thought in to it.

Well, my husband has a habit of changing our storage room code once a week (OCD) and I needed the code so I called him at work because he doesn't have cell reception inside. Well, his female coworkers answered the phone. I just kind of hung up and didn't get in to the storage unit (it wasn't super important anyways-my mother just wanted my deceased grams cutlery and stuff, and could totally wait a day). But yeah I just like.. hung up because I just caught my husband in a stupid lie. You know? And now I don't know how to handle it either because there's never been any weird jealousy or territorial bullshit between us and I have no reason to not trust him either, you know? So like.. why lie about something that fucking stupid?

I truly don't know what to do guys. Like it really bothers me. Not that it's a female coworkers that he's working with but the fact that why lie about something that fucking small?

Just from reading this I don't think you're husband lied, at least not intentionally at the time. I think there's a real possibility that he believed he would be working alone, so when someone else picked up the phone at work it would have been worthwhile talking to your husband and giving him the benefit of the doubt and listening to his explanation. This highlights some deeper trust issues you have with him and honestly it seems like you've blown something little out of proportion. Rather than fixate on this and let it continue to become an actual issue that is pretty much nothing, let's face it, I suggest telling your husband that you jumped to a conclusion about this and it's been on your mind and you just wanted to bring it up with him, but don't make accusations or call him a liar before getting further information.

I think you are probably right. Or at least I was hoping. So I followed your advice and I followed up with him when he got home and all he said was "I just wanted to avoid drama" and followed it up with "I just wish you would wear more jeans". I don't know how to take that but it made me super insecure.

Maybe he didn't want you to know he'd be working with a female by himself or maybe she felt bad about him working by himself so she decided to stay and help him out

I do. I'm trying not to think about it. I did end up asking him what that was all about and he said something to the affect of "I didn't want you to get insecure and think anything of it", which was kind of odd but I'm trying to not let it bother me.

I truly don't get it. This is the first time running in to an issue like this or a stupid lie for no good reason, you know? Or at least that I've caught him in. Now I'm questioning how many other times he's lied to me about something stupid.
