So I was invited out to a wedding with my boyfriend. I was invited as his plus one, and we live in different countries. I lost my job so I had no money to buy a flight out to see him and to go to the wedding but he told me that he would buy my flight and pay for me to come out there. Every single week we spoke he would mention the wedding and say ‘I can’t wait for you to come out to my family wedding and meet everyone, my family can’t wait to meet you’ and he kept saying ‘I’m looking at flights for you and I’ve found a really good deal’, but he kept saying this for weeks on end and he wouldn’t buy me a flight ticket, and then it got to the point in the end that he said ‘flights have gone really expensive so I’ve rspc’d you out of the wedding’ and said ‘I’m sure I’ll meet you when flights are cheaper’.
Then it was the wedding the other day (the one I was meant to go to) and my boyfriend kept texting me photos and videos of the wedding saying things like ‘I really miss you and wish you were here, it’s so hard there’s couples everywhere you should be here’ and then he photoshopped me into a photograph of him on his own at the wedding and uploaded it to his social media. I just felt like he was trying to push my buttons knowing that he didn’t get me a flight out when he promised he would. Then I confronted him about it and he said ‘well I didn’t want to mess with your plans that’s why I didn’t buy you a flight out’
Is he intentionally manipulating me and playing with my emotions?
