When a guy doesn't want a relationship, would he probably commit if he fell in love?

My friend likes this guy and they were talking. He suddenly said he doesn't want a relationship, he isn't ready etc. But he knows someday he'll meet his future wife and commit. Is this usually code for: I like you, but not enough to commit? Or I don't want a relationship WITH YOU.

Or does it literally mean, I would want a relationship with you but I don't want anything serious with anyone?

Would most people commit if the truly right person came along, or would they pass up that opportunity?

I think it is not all that much of a voluntary decision. If you meet the right person then you are wanting to be with them as much as possible and at minimum if you are seeking to be with as much as possible the you are committing to them in defacto.

Maybe, but not necessarily because falling in love would be extremely inconvenient for him. In general, you don't want to hold your breath in a situation like that. The guy is telling the woman that he can't give her more.
