How does a guy adapt to a lifetime of singleness when he never wanted to be?

Anonymous

I am sure there are people that exist that actually want to be single. For me, it is absolutely heartbreaking because I have always wanted a girlfriend ever since I was a child, yet I have never been able to truly experience that.

I am 29 and never had an actual girlfriend. I haven't even kissed in 8 years now. I have had brief encounters with girls a long time ago I first met online, but nothing ever developed into a relationship. I cannot see myself ever giving my heart to a woman that has loved another guy before me, especially from her youth. I felt sick to my stomach yesterday when I found out a girl I work with had a high school sweetheart when she was younger.

I am absolutely devastated beyond words about the likelihood of being single the rest of my life, never having a girlfriend, a wife, or a family of my own. I am hoping I will get cancer or an illness of some kind so I don't have to live a sad, lonely old man who never even so much had a girlfriend.
