So I've have been dating my boyfriend for almost 3 years now. We have a "mid-distance" type relationship... so we see each other about every week and take turns going over each others houses for a few days.
here's the thing. My boyfriend is a great man, but as any other relationship, there are a few flaws. One being that he is way too shy with my family. I never liked how he doesn't say hi unless i literally tell him to. If i dont he will just say hi in a small voice, or have a short conversation if he engages with my parents and its bothering me now especially that its been 3 years. I always wanted my boyfriend and my family to be best friends... you know what i mean?
My dad finally said something about it to me the other day. He told me that as much as he loves my boyfriend, he doesn't like when he doesn't go out of his way to say hi especially since its his house, etc. i feel embarrassed and i dont know how to approach the subject with my boyfriend as i know I've mentioned it in passing before. Also, it's worth mentioning that in the beginning, my boyfriend was definitely more conversational with them.
Anyone else have this experience or have advice? Do i tell him my dad said something or keep that to myself?
