Yes it is, definitely ! That's a real put down, sounds like he seems to thinks he's superior to you, and will I think be even worse when it comes to your point of view in future relationship issues between the 2 of you !

It’s not a red flag, he is just letting you know that you don’t get his jokes, eventually you’ll understand his sarcasm once you have been together for awhile. It’s all a part of being in a relationship getting to understand each other. It’s not really a skill you need to learn, you just need to understand his sarcasm which can take time but so do all relationships

i'd consider this a red flag, and im saying this as someone who loves joking around a lot myself.
That sounds like a pretty bad joke, and not in a good way. If you don't recgonize jokes then it might be a problem. I like to joke around with my girlfriend and if she doesn't get jokes it takes a lot out of it.

You may not be able to take him seriously anymore if that's his idea of a joke. You're not a mind reader and if he expect you to read his mind, he's the problem who is the narcissist who thinks all of his jokes should funny.

You used the word “leery”. That implies he was thinking “oh shit, red alert”. So I don’t see the problem.

This guy is condescending. He's saying he's right and you're wrong, and that your feelings are stupid. I wouldn't see him again personally. For me it would be a nope.

There is no truth. Something like this is entirely subjective. There is no right or wrong here, they just have different opinions. Everyone has a right to their opinion.
