Is falling in love overrated?

It seems like people only select a partner purely just base one emotions/feelings and infautation but not seek important qualities such as these for instance, don't actually take the time during the vetting process:

- Does the person even shares similar goals?

- How do they get along with their families or are they all dysfunctional?

- Are you guys compatible in other areas?

- Besides the great feelings and passionate love and sex... yes he/she is the love of your life but what other great qualities they have?

So do you think falling in love is overrated? I get that being in love is a great experience but is it really worth staying when the person if you guys don't share anything in common at all and will then likely have arguments once the infatuation period fades?

Yes... I keep asking this question... what is love? you have to figure out what it is and it's not what you think... because obviously, it's not a thought... but a deep emotional reaction. Knowing that emotions are created by the person... from their body chemistry, hormones and memories/experiences... it becomes highly suspect.

It's more of a detective in a sleuthing haunted house sometimes...

So yea, be an observer of self is healthier... be aware.

I'm a person that falls in love really easily and no, it isn't infatuation, based on this:

love is "a warm attachment, enthusiasm, or devotion to another person", infatuation is "a feeling of foolish or obsessively strong love for, admiration for, or interest in someone or something", a shallower "honeymoon phase" in a relationship.

I fall in love with people who might understand me, might also be on the mission in life, that sort of thing. It's a strong pull and it transforms me as a person. So I don't feel it's overrated at all.

I do think what most people think is love, is infatuation though, so I voted yes.

Being close to someone and sharing similar feelings is not comparable to anything else.

But I need time, so for me, it's mostly a process of learning more and more about another person. The love comes together with knowing another person better when we discover how we share similar values, like similar things and enjoy being together.

Pretty obviously and sadly the answer is 100% YES , and over time , everybody will learn this lesson , completely and utterly overrated , and its best its " existence and companionship " , the myth is all bullshit , starts with lust and then you have to live with them , and they age , and annoy the fck out of you , thats the honest truth.

For me before I truly fall in love I have to pass that list, so definitely not overrated in my case. Feelings are overrated as far as how serious people take them, but if you genuinely love someone for who they are and its the kind of inherent love that stems from loving their traits its the best thing there can be if its mutual.

I happens just one time in age when people are naive and idealistic. If this relationship fails this feeling doesn't come back, at least not as this euphoric and passionate feeling that came with first teen love.

Obviously falling in love the wrong way is overrated. But falling in love as it is supposed to be is not overrated rated at all.

The problem is exactly what you said in the first sentence. Unfortunately, many people fall in love in the wrong way. That's the issue.

To me, yes,. because I define as follows:

Fall in love: Purely emotional attachment to another, a feeling that can change on a dime.

Love: a commitment to seek the best for another.

No i don't think it's overrated it's just misunderstood love won't make a relationship work or hold a marriage together if other aspects are lacking
