Happiness Loves Silence, Agree or Disagree?

If I am happy, content and satisfied with my life - I lead a very private and a quiet life.

If I am talkative and oversharing, that’s a giveaway sign that I am unhappy, because that’s not my natural state.

I felt very, very happy about something today and I’m keeping it as a secret. When you are truly happy, It’s better to stay quiet and enjoy in silence.

I think it’s relative. When I’m truly happy, it emanates from me in my mannerisms and behavior. It’s tacit.

I very much agree with you on oversharing. When I’m stressed or seeking help, I’ll sometimes get proverbial diarrhea of the mouth.

I sometimes also do it when I’m happy or in a braggy type mood. Not very humbling. It also worries me if I share information involving others, that it would break their boundaries/confidence/trust. I try to be discreet when I don’t have explicit agreements with people I’m involved with. I don’t wish to explicitly expose anyone.

But the thing is, I’m still single and going off advice from girls I’ve spoken with in the past, “put myself out there.”. I’ve nothing to hide and frankly I am proud of many of the decisions I’ve made. I rather enjoy sharing my experiences with others.

I will close with this: when I was with my ex, what happened between us stayed between us. It was kept in the highest of confidence. In regards to every girl I’ve been involved with, I don’t want anyone to be able to verify their existence. The safest way to do that is make sure even I don’t know where they are. I don’t go seeking them out. I have no problem if they seek me out. They could be made up as far as anyone is concerned, and it will stay that way. That’s why I advise anyone on here to be very careful about protecting personally identifying information.

Overtalking tends to be a greater measure of unhappiness. Silence can lead to assumptions based on fears or fantasies. Any extreme can be dysfunctional. The object is to be clear, concise, open and honest... sharing what is appropriate to share and no more. There is nothing wrong with living a private and quiet life. People have a tendency to overshare or share nothing. Balance is very important.

And different people navigate that differently.


For me, I’m usually the opposite actually.


When I’m going through a hard time, I have a tendency to close myself off to people, to go MIA.


When I’m really happy about something, I usually want to celebrate that with someone. 🎉

I agree , I think contentment like that is an inner confidence , this thought that everything needs to be " shouted from a rooftop " " Look at me " type stuff , may be considered norm in parts of the USA , but that stuff is generally bluff and " I am " , genuine happiness is generally in silence.
