After seeing the recent thread where a girl slapped her boyfriend across the face for something he said, and he broke up with her, I started thinking that maybe he deserved it, because what he said was pretty nasty.

I talked it over with my boyfriend and he disagrees, he said that you never elevate to physical over something someone said, it's only acceptable to hit someone who hit you first, and I said that sometimes, a smart slap across the face is a necessary response.

My boyfriend said "so, if you said something really bad, it's okay for me to slap you across the face?" and I told him that's different, woman aren't as strong as men.

Thoughts?

No its not appropriate for something that is said. Dont be the first one to be aggressive and if possible never be at all.

I think if someone gropes or similar and voice doesn't help, a slap in the face can get attention from other people which helps you. Its not about slapping hard, its about making something obvious for bystanders. The same can be done with a push or something similar. Most of the time this includes too much surround sound e. G concerts or clubs etc. Be sure it wasn't an accident!

Thats aboht the only situation where I think something aggressive is ok if the other person isn't attacking you. Although yes it could be seen as something like an attack.

"Women aren't as strong" is not a valid excuse. That's like saying I can go and hit a man bigger than me, and he can't hit back because I'm not as strong as him. You raise your hand in violence to anyone, expect to get hit back.
