How do you deal with snobby people?

Question

Started dating the most wonderful man almost a year ago. Everyone in his family has been absolutely amazing too. Except his cousins wife.

She’s extremely uptight, condescending, attention seeking, judgmental, rude and will humiliate you at any chance she gets either in private or one on one..
(I have receipts of rude manipulative texts to my boyfriend from her after she didn’t get her way)

Advice on what my behaviour should be like when I do have to be around her every once in a while? Or how would you handle it?
No rude comments please, I know not to be rude or judge her to much because I don’t know her background aside from being an only child of a wealthy couple. I’m just asking to see other opinions this.

Our behavior around snobby people is tricky. People are snobbish when they feel or think that they are superior than you. So, they throw around their attitude and behave all high and mighty. Such people actually have an inferiority complex, which they may themselves be not aware of, and to mask that, they put on an act of being snobbish.

~So how to deal with them?

First thing, never ever get intimated by such people. You remain confident about who you are and your self. No one can make you feel inferior, unless you feel so, about yourself. Interact confidently with a mild display of authority, and then your confidence will reflect as ‘superiority complex’ to the snobbish people. They will simply calm down, if they feel that you are better than them and know your stuff better. These are basically just mind games.

In my uni, I have come across many people who constantly judge my knowledge during classes. They are rude, snobbish and have all ready done their own research on internet and pretend to know it all! However, none of that bothers or affects me, because I remain confident about myself and with such people, my behavior changes slightly. I use a more authoritative tone to emphasize on what I am trying to convey, my body language mirrors their body language and so they get the message, that they cannot subdue me as I won’t take their attitude. A dramatic shift comes in their behavior after sometime, and they suddenly become normal!
Show them your charismatic bold side with respect, these people will start respecting u. But never ever make these bitches feel that they are dominant and control u. Be dominant and show your dominance.

Actually, it seems you're already ahead of the game because you don't seem to be taking it personally. Just keep being your honest self in relation to everyone in your boyfriend's family. Most likely they all see her for who she really is. My brother-in-law's wife was like that and, also, happened to be envious of me which made it a little more complicated. I would always talk to her anyway and just let any snobby stuff go because nothing she did really mattered to me. She targeted me once to try to make me look bad and I just gave her the proverbial "long rope". She did a great job of hanging herself with it and making herself look really bad in the process... and nothing at all stuck to me. I almost felt bad for her. But, after that she never went after me again and no longer a problem for any of us because my brother-in-law got tired of it all and they're divorced now.

Have SO run interference for you, limit interaction obvs. You can't change her so box her in somewhere. Kill her with kindness. If other shared your point of view have a casual "intervention"

You can either stand up to bullies or be bullied. Ignoring them (when the time comes she's directly attacking you) only feeds them. Call her out if she is wrong or doing something you dislike. She'll challenge you but bullies are usually weak and back off when prevented doing or getting something directly back.
