My girlfriend doesn't want kids...

We've been together for 2 years. She's always jokingly said she never wants to have kids, until recently I've been getting her to joke about having maybe one or 2 kids. She knows I want a family.

So, she was having a really bad day. She has a horrible relationship with her family. They are pretty selfish and rude, and always treated her poorly. She confessed to me after crying all day that the reason she wants a pet(she's been begging for one lately) is so that she will have a family member who will always look forward to seeing her. I was trying to comfort her, and I brought up a family and kids that would love her, and she replied,

"I don't ever want to had kids, and I would appreciate it if you stopped trying to convince me that I do."

I don't really know how to take this... I figured given time, she would change her mind because I want to spend my life with her... but... I always wanted a family.

Dump her, and look for a girl that dreams of having a family. I know it sucks, but no matter how hard you try, it's up to her to change her mind. And one way of doing so is to get the f*ck away from her family and live independently on her own.

If you want to keep this relationship going, and still hold on to faith in her, perhaps you two could move in together. And get a pet. A pet is like a baby too, so that could always help her change her mind.

I think there's plenty of young females out there who don't think they'll ever have kids. But then, things happen and they get preggers. They'll b*tch and complain to their partner who did it. And they don't want to go through with the pregnancy. But the day that the baby comes, they do a 180 and change all of a sudden. However, this is not a wise choice. Planned pregnancy is much better than an unexpected baby.

You got to do what you got to do. Not wanting to have kids is worthy of a deal breaker, I don't see it as any use to try and convince someone of something big like that. I'd break it off now for both your sakes

A lot of people underestimate themselves... when you are in love or in a committed relationship, you may do things you never thought you would do... and maybe if you marry her she will change her mind about having kids...

Her reply sounded really rude though... yes she has a right to say no to kids, but she shouldn't rag on you for wanting kids.

I would leave if she doesn't change her mind.

Yes unfortunately we have expectations and visions of what could be but it is always best to be with some one who is headed in that same direction as you. You should seriously consider what this will do to your future and make some decisions. I personally think its adoring that you want a family. I've been dating players for while and looking forward to finding that guy-some one like you.

It sounds like you're going to have to choose what you want more...to spend your life with her or to have kids and a family. I know I don't want kids and no matter how much someone tries I'm not going to change my mind about that...you're going to have to make a decision.

Go and meet other families...maybe shell change her mind after seing them .but give her time to thing.there are lots of responsiblities for which she is not ready.get her aquainted to small childrens.
