As one of the Muslim thinker said -The belief without using mind may has more harms than atheism
-Don't worry about those who think (use their mind) if they go astray, we have to worry about the troubles ignorant people (those who don't use their minds) do when they think they follow the right path.
- Half of the disbelief in the world was caused by religious people.
It will be greater than the story of this famous Somali girl.
A girl who wore Burqa, pretended she was homeless in order to discover the "barbarian" face of Islam, must be a hero. Such a news will be celebrated over the world
What kind of Islam did you study? No offense to all the Pakis out there but a lot of there people take Islam to another level, and it's like that in multiple areas. The sad thing is, you believe what you studied was true Islam but fail to realize a religion with 1.5 billion followers will have variation, because not everyone will stay true to it. Harming one's wife is a big no no, that includes rape.
I have a similar story except I grew up in a Western country and the people I know never openly support things like stoning or death penalty for leaving islam. They *do* however think that the world would be perfect if everyone followed Sharia (which contains all the evil things you talked about).
I agree completely except for the part that says "everything I grew up in was only 1% of the nice cover of Islam, that actually happens to be the most cruel and most violent religion that exists."
I don't think Islam is the cruelest or most violent because the Old Testament contains nearly the exact same level of violence and cruelty. The abrahamic religions together are the cruelest except when people choose to ignore the violent parts.

A lot of muslims dont know this and they refuse to know they just know what the imams and their parents tell them but never actually discover these dark secrets, even when they follow such barbaric laws and act violent they still dont even suspect that maybe the religion they are following is actually wrong.
Congrats for finding your way. I hope you can enjoy your life and make your own decisions from this point until eternity. Religious families always raise their kids in their faith. The fact that the child is TOLD what to believe, from birth, is to my mind a form a child abuse. No matter the religion.
You have to make up your own mind what to believe or not.
Epic! You were brave enough to choose what is right. I think I'm lucky enough to be born as a Catholic! I learned some things I never knew and it's hard to believe how cruel those people are. Good luck for your new life and God bless you!
Most Muslims have no intention to kill you or blowing up a bomb or hurting you, you felt a need to say that why? Because it wouldn't take much for it to change to the flip side, sadly that's the reality. I'm going to end this, what's the point this is not the place.
the reason Islam is different is because of sects. Each sects have their own customs and all which Islam forbids. Religion is not the issue here. Look at christianity they too have different sects as well and violence as well. The world now is getting twisted and corrupt. As for miracles, before the end of times, the antichrist will appear and other biblical things will take place as well. Look at the signs around you, its not too complicated. Also, I read some articles where people with cancer went to do Hajj came back with no traces of cancer in their bodies. And other similar stories as well. You have to realise not everyone deserves a miracle, not all the people are good hearted, miracles happen to those that truly deserves it, not thinking they deserve it.
Islam is what is wrong dont try to twist the truth or invovle christianity in this, literally no christian was killed for leaving the religion or doing anything against the bible, and dont bring gays or anything like that its in the old testemant not the new ones, christians are not jews they are not followers of the torah, so think before you speak
@Z-Spark im not twisting the truth. You lost your way. Let life teach you. You probably didn't read Quran properly its says there no compulsion in religion.
i didn't read the quran but i know a lot who have, religoious muslims and i have read phrases here and there , in arabic , islam is a violent religion it allows things that should not be allowed in a religion of peace. and since we are at it i have few questions that i hope you can answer. 1- how many wives the prophet muhhamed had and who was the youngest? 2- how did islam spread during muhammeds time and after he died? 3- how many wivs are you allowed in islam? 4- how is heaven described in islam 5- as a muslim man can you marry a non muslim? and can a muslim woman marry a non muslim? 6- are you allowed to kill someone who committed a murder in islam? 7 - are you allowed to get your revenge in islam the same way you were hurt? 8- what happens to a person who leaves islam according to islam?
the problem is all religions my friend,,, war is in our nature we can't change it,,, people don't have to die or live in a chattel slavery because an imaginary thing in the sky commanded us to his dirty work,,, he might go fuck him self and bring his sorry ass to earth and do his shit him self,, and am saying this for all the fucked up gods in every religion.
answer my question you coawrd, , you know you have nothing to counter my comment therefore you're trying to change the subjects just like you're terrorist imams on tv who will never answer a question and will dance around the answer.
Hazem Faraaj... those who challenge the views of the author need only have a look at Ayaan Hirsi Ali, and lesser known Hazem Faraaj, a Palestinian who left Islam. He has a good video series that looks at the roots of Islam and why he left.
Good my-take! Im also a ex muslim, left islam at the age of 16 followed up with 8 months of depression. Because i didn't want to lose my family and friends because of a religion.
I think any religion where they fell compelled to kill you if you want to leave it, is really messed up.
very best of luck to you.

"Talking of blind belief and paradox, it is said that Allah supposedly made you and gave you a brain to use. You are allowed to use it for everything, but if you ever use it to question religion or existence you have to die because you are not allowed to."
This, or some variation of it, is true of Christianity as well.
" It gives my heart joy when a Muslim abandons Islam and sees its true nature of a blood thirsty repressive cult it really is."
Spoken ^^ like a true religious fanatic. It always makes me laugh to see how blind you and other religious nuts are. You're no different from guys who are fanatical about their sports teams. The rest of us just look at you and laugh.
I also laugh how in denial you guys are of truth of Christianity and a superior being that is unmatched in smarts, wisdom and power you will face when your spirit leaves your physical body upon death. Cheers.🍸
@Hispanic-Cool-Guy I will say this for people like you... your blind faith is admirable. Ignorance is bliss, as they say. Some us us, however, cannot go through life not using our brains and our capacity for logic. There is something in us that will not allow us to believe something is true simply because we want it to be true. That, clearly, is a matter of intellect, and in your case, a lack thereof.
@Hispanic-Cool-Guy What's naive is believing there is some mysterious deity somewhere who is watching over us and expecting us to live by a book written centuries ago by a bunch of different people.
@Hispanic-Cool-Guy I completely disagree with the idea that a devoted fundamentalist Christian can't be an intellectual. Some of the smartest people I know are fundamentalist Christians.
I can imagine how betrayed you must feel, all the time spent, like everything you've known was all a lie. However, keep in mind that in every religion there is always going to be people who twist the religion, are mentally ill, commit crimes, and exaggerate the text. The people who commit those acts cannot call themselves a muslim or holy person because their actions speak louder.
Since you grew up in a muslim country, how are muslims taught about mohammad? What is it they teach at the masjid that makes so many of them very defensive (mildly putting it) if you say something less than nice about him?
Otherwise, good take. Good luck and enjoy yourself a pork sandwich.
I know a number of muslims that do a lot off things that are the antithesis of what islam teaches, typically they are very westernised.
Congratulations on your journey, it isn't the easiest thing to leave islam. some social commentators believe that without the punishment for apostacy that islam would cease to be bigger than some of the smaller religions.
I'm sorry but this is a crappy MyTake. I used to be a practising Muslim but I stopped practising and questioned my religion. You are just repeating what the ex Muslims forum are saying. I can easily refute most of your MyTake. And just so you know, I used to be ISIS supporter and I can refute a lot of things what the media says about ISIS
And also most of them who is praising you are Christians.
@asdfdude Good question. I've always been someone who ask so many questions since I was a kid, every single day I think about a lot of things, it can sometime drain my energy. I'm someone research so many things and seek 100% truth. And since Islam was a big part of my life, there is no doubt I would question my religion when I heard atheism's point of view at the age of 15. I don't know if I really believe in Islam or not so I just gave up practicing Islam because what's the point of practicing when I'm still unsure about Islam. I'm only 20 and it will be solved gradually as years goes by.
It's funny how people rate me down. I can guarantee they're Christians who strangely pleased when someone left the religion of Islam. The only difference between Islam and Christianity is the concept of God and how the practice. There is literally little difference between Christianity and Islam when it comes to morality. What make Christians think their religion is better than Islam?
Religion is philosophical and bordering mythical at best. No respectable scientist in the world puts "god" in their data set, math or peer review journals? Life's journey is not to arive at your grave in a perfect, well perserved body; but rather, to come sliding in sideways, totally out of control, screaming "HOLY SH! T WHAT A RIDE".
Those who deny the Book (this Qur'an), and that with which We sent Our Messengers (i. e. to worship none but Allah Alone sincerely, and to reject all false deities and to confess resurrection after the death for recompense) they will come to know (when they will be cast into the Fire of Hell). Quran 40:70
This is really profound and glad you can share your honesty. Religion will always make people do things to "validate" them as good people and earn their right to heaven. But you can only have true freedom in Jesus Christ when you believe. God's grace is unmerited so no good deed can save us but only through Jesus Christ alone. I hope that you will find the answers you need and God loves you. Have a great day!

Indeed that is totally true.
Now if only more muslims followed in your footsteps by leaving that barbaric religion.
Most muslims aren't aware of how barbaric their religion is, like I wasn't in the past.
