Living under a dictatorship: changes for worst

After 2018, things radically changed in my country—Nicaragua. The non violent protest against the government, end in a brutal repression that killed 355 people, according to the International Human Rights Commission (IHRC).

Several people who participated in the protest—back in 2018—are still missing.

Exactly between 2019-2020 is when I catch up that a load of laws were been aproved; to assure "the national security" and "the soverenity of the nation". Among those laws: The "Foreign Agents Law”, which cracked down different NGO's, shut down national news media's and gave the government a free pass to capture and sentence anyone or any organization that's not aligned with the regime agenda. Those laws were created to enforce a machinary of repression that's getting more severe overtime.

IMPACT OF THE PANDEMIC

During the pandemic, the government implemented strict control measures in the airport and country borders. It's understood by us, in the country, that it was the perfect pretext for them, to reinforce control over the population.

According to the government, data: 245 people died from the coronavirus.

📌Good part of it? Everyone received "free" vaccine.

What's happening, in 2022?
