I find it a little bit hypocritical that in a world where so many people of the LGBTQ persuasion have cried and demanded equality, that they seem to be the most against legalizing peoples rights to practice plural marriage simply because it has been practiced mostly on a religious basis.

I keep hearing so much about how even today there are demands for equality and the so called “respect for marriage act“ but yet the last time I checked, it would still be considered illegal within the United States of America for a man to be in more than one marriage to a woman in each marriage!

@silyt_ghoest I’m referring in specific to plural marriage and legalizing or rather removing discriminatory laws which prevent a person from being in multiple marriages. So for instance, a man may be married to one wife and then he and her decide that it’s OK for him to get married again so he finds another woman, courts and marries her in a separate marriage. Right now it’s currently unlawful within all 50 states for people to practice bigamy of any sort. I’ve come across a lot of people who are LGBTQ who can’t stand patriarchy and so they use that as a justification as to why it’s OK to continue to discriminate against the plural marriage. They are trying to apply their own personal beliefs into the equation similar to how others tried to apply their standards of morality as a means to keep gay marriage illegal.

I am just arguing that the law cannot play favorites. If you legalize one form of marriage, under equal application of the law, it must then apply to all.
