Girlfriend wants to go out but I have no money!

One of my pet hates is people paying for things for me. It makes me feel guilty especially if my girlfriend pays. It makes me feel like I'm taking advantage of them because they have money and I don't, even though I'm not trying to. (until I get paid). Even so, I don't want her to pay for things for me. (and I hate the 'I'll pay you back later' routine). But she want's to go out shopping, lunch, etc. Please, how do I tell her? I don't want to let her down, or her to get frustrated with me, because I love her so much.

Gah, my boyfriend and I continuously get into this argument. I mean it's not even an argument, but he usually doesn't have much cash on himself and we kinda go out quite a bit (esp. now during the summer) and he's always complaining about how bad he feels when I pay for his stuff.

Honestly, I don't think there's a clear "solution" to the problem at hand, but the best we've been able to do is keep things open. When he feels like this, he tells me. So we stay at home or go to the pool or play videogames and don't go out. Just let her know, you two can find stuff to do and keep yourselves entertained that doesn't involve spending money.

this scenario happens to me all the time (opposite). my boyfriend makes more than I do so he can afford to treat me and its so frustrating because I like to think of myself as an independent woman. I told him I didn't like it and he said he does it because he's the man and he wants to provied for me. Compromise: when we go out he pays for dinner and I'll buy the movie. Otherwise he buys me stuff anyways so I've learned to go with it.

Get a job or get a new girl or just go friends with benefits if you can't afford a relationship...
