MY girlfriend and i have been together for 2years. During these two years my girlfriend has spoiled me tremendously. She really gives me anything I ask for or mention that I’d like to have. my girlfriend is super clingy and sweet.

I have been having financial problems for awhile and I’ll admit I’m not making it better. I stay on my game all night and miss my alarm. I watch basketball all night or just plain lazy. I only work 3 days a week which is the worse part. I don’t initiate to sign up for over time and work more hours and I’m not able to spoil my girlfriend because of the simple fact that i have no money to spend. I have three open credit cards and I’m struggling to pay them off. I have had to pawn my game and i barely have clothes to wear My girlfriend over the past few months has bought me more clothes, shoes, food took off for work when i was sick. Gave me money to help me with my bills. She’s non selfish

yesterday i overheard her on the phone talking to who i assume was her sister and she said “i wish my boyfriend would stop calling out of work, he can’t pay his bills because he’s never at work he calls out for stupid reasons” “i lent him money to help him with his bills and i don’t want him to pay me back i just want him to not be a bum and get hisself together” she then paused. And she said “he’s not the man i know he can be and when i acknowledge that he should go to work or stop calling out he gets defensive” she said “he called out the other day because it was Father’s Day and he’s not even a father” “he stays on the game all day and he lacks motivation he pushes me to be great but he won’t push hisself” “I just want him to do better and i know he can he just settles for everything going on in his life right now” “we don’t go on dates and sometimes i feel ignored he doesn’t make me feel special majority of our conversations are about money he asked me to take a loan out for him and I already gave him $300 for his bills last month”

- are you okay with being stagnant in your personal life; not working, or not taking work seriously, skipping days.

I understand that you've been through some bad luck, but you shouldn't let fate keep you down, especially when you have someone cheering you on.

Please understand that there aren't many girls that are as nice as yours, many girls would have left you by now because everyone respects a partner with at least some ambition. She is not with you because her dream is to take care of you while you do nothing. She is with you because she believes you are better than this, and sees some kind of future with you in which you are both happy. How can you not be inspired by such dedication?

This is my just opinion. Sorry for being blunt but:
- You need to try harder. Start taking responsibility for both your life, and your relationship. Don't you want to be able to take care of your girlfriend? If you do, be more diligent, either at your current job, or in getting a new one.
- Learn to manage your time. Stop sleeping late, and set a maximum 3-4 hours for gaming per day. Make sure you're done with entertainment by 9pm. And make sure you sleep at least 6-7 hours per night (not in the day).
Actually, I recommend making a daily schedule of what your plan for every tomorrow is, try your best to stick to it. Share it with your girlfriend, someone so awesome will probably encourage you to stick with it every day.
- Get rid of your credit cards and never use one again. Perhaps set a goal to first pay off your debts, and then never be in debt again. Get a debit card, that way you know it's useless unless you have money in the bank.
- Show your girlfriend that her loyalty and dedication to you was well-placed. Be diligent in whatever job you're doing, when you make some money, take her out on a nice date to thank her for believing in you. Show her how much you appreciate all she's done, and for sticking around through these trying times in your life. Spend more time with her.
- Stop taking your girlfriend for granted. Realize what a special person you have in your life, and recognize that the conversation you overheard is a sign that your attitude is starting to chafe. If she breaks up with you, she will probably lose that big heart of hers because you disillusioned her.
- As a fellow gamer, I must also insist that you stop giving her any reason to believe that dating gamers is a mistake.

I think you could start with little things such as not calling into work, make sure you go to work when you are scheduled. Then maybe you could pick up 1-2 shifts a week. Working 3 days a week is not a lot and I think you know that too, or else you wouldn’t have written this question. Write down a list of things that you think you could be doing better. Listed to the things she talks about too and maybe once you’ve gotten back on track or feel as though you are improving yourself, then buy her something or do something romantic for her. I've been dealing with an unsuccessful economically speaking husband.
It has been a nightmare to me. I loved him so much but you start to feel very little attaction for someone who cannot be financialy independant.

If he is physically able bodied, but emotionally disabled, then he is required to get counseling... either professional, or a mens support group.
