Whats the deal with MGTOW and WGTOW?

Question

Just a bunch of adults who can't get date because they're to brainwashed to cover dinner or feel oppressed shaving their pits or what?

By brainwashed I mean thinking that paying for dinner had anything to do with gender roles outside of a glorified romantic gesture.

By oppressed I mean thinking body hair or anything main stream feminine does something to kill our relevance as fellow human beings.

To me this is just another radicalized social conditioning that further wedges a divide between people for no reason except for one to feel self justification in their own sexist pride.

Pride is the root of disharmony, so I find it strange such people talking sweet seeming things are at the forefront of perpetuating gender stigmas that are easily crushed by not lobbying.

Forgive me if Im way off, but these seem like pseudo forms of misogyny and feministic nazism.

First, I think that professionals forgoing the distraction of romance in order to be more successful at their passion has been around throughout all of human history.

I've never heard of WGTOW, and if it's really about things like shaving one's armpits, I would say that's pretty silly.

The popularity of MGTOW, on the other hand, is, in my opinion, mostly a reaction (perhaps an overreaction) to a very vocal female supremacy movement. Many movements involving sexual misbehavior against women completely disregard the concept of innocent until proven guilty, and often wish to punish people beyond the confines of the law. Another example would be the women in the workplace type of movements, which very vocally advocate for more women in male-dominated career fields, but are unperturbed by the growing gap in education between the sexes or by the many career fields that are almost exclusively female.

I don't agree with MGTOW, because I recognize and value my biological desire to have a special relationship with a woman, but I definitely can understand why it's becoming more popular.

Mgtow is about staying clear, staying removed from the traditional marriage-like relationships in a society that only offers extending hands to women while screwing up men.
What's funny is that some people want to attack mgtow not because they DO something, but because they DON'T do something. Like you need to go and attack some men whose life choice values their own self and who do not engage you. Tyrants can't leave people alone.

I find it a tad pathetic to need a label and complete set philosophy to "go your own way" personally, but people tend to want to belong somewhere, even if the whole point is to go your OWN way.
I don't know, I'll never agree with the need for these groups, just in order to live an individual life. I think most people do fine living their lives without calling themselves X or Y.

MGTOW is a extremist version of Men’s rights activism (MRA) but they are not one and the same. WGTOW isn’t a official movement, it’s just a mockery of MGTOW. Meninism is also not a official movement, it’s just a mockery of 4th wave feminism.

I consider myself a men’s rights activist but not MGTOW. Men who go MGTOW are usually men who have given up on women, so I pity them. I don’t think MGTOW or the hypothetical WGTOW will actually benefit anyone in the long run because as you said all they are doing is dividing men and women.

Try to imagine that you're a man and you're average. Now imagine you're young (18-24) years old. Let's narrow it down further and say you're a 6 out of 10 on looks and a 6 out of 10 financially.

A woman who is roughly in your same ballpark and age has many, many, many more sexual options than you have and likely ever will have. She doesn't need to approach men to get their attention. Simply by being seen, she is approached, and the men she can select from are well above average in looks and financial stability.

As an average man, you see this happening all around you. You have tried your damnedest to be that dependable guy women say they want and it has never gotten you anywhere. So Instead of playing the dating game, you start telling women to f*ck off with their stupid problems and begin focusing on yourself instead. Suddenly you're doing things you care about and you're making money for yourself. And just like that, women start gravitating towards you like a black hole.

That's MGTOW (at least for young men) in a nutshell. For more mature men it's usually about survival. 'I can't get married again because I can't afford another divorce.' For these men, MGTOW is an absolute necessity.

In principle I have no issue with either movement. Not everyone is or wants to be parent material. Others truly have no choice (permanently shunned by women) or the opposite gender.

Some times children don't align well with your life goals. Example, had a bad start in life, goes to college late 20s, career focused, finally gets life together at 37, a little too old for children, etc.

The choosing not to find a mate, whether, gay, straight, trans, or what ever label, does seem unnatural. We are after all social creatures.

I think most people dislike these groups / movements because it is hard to relate to. However you may feel very differently if you have been betrayed, or spent a decade alone with no dates. You may feel that dating apps pray on your wallet, and buying someone dinner is just giving money away because you never see date #3.

Yeah pretty much, I did a MyTake briefly covering the MGTOW community & advising people against it. I think a lot of men with autism can easily come off as creepy & find themselves isolated, so these MGTOW recruiters can gather them intoa general stew of hate for the opposite sex.

There is more to it, but generally its a trade-off. Dealing with women isn't really worth it anymore for men, because they can only lose. Rape-accusation, divorce, etc.

I only know one "member" of MGTOW in real life, and his only justification for not wanting a relationship is because he feels like women in the west have become less feminine which makes them unattractive.
Now, it's perfectly fine if you don't want a relationship (I personally HATE the idea of being in one), and it's also fine to want your partner to have certain traits (again, I as well find feminine women a lot more attractive), but MGTOWs often judge every woman they meet based on their previous experiences with them, which makes them no better tham third-wave feminists.

I'm not MGTOW at all but, I did a bit of research into the movement and it isn't misogynistic despite its image. It's about how men get treated unfairly in family and divorce courts and how the law is so biased towards women in domestic matters that men might as well not marry or have relations with women because there is more loss than there is rewards in the matter. There are also other subjects it touches on such as gynocentrism, but the focus is the bias in family and divorce courts.

But I would say it's legitimately harder for men to get laid than women. As in: A lot harder.
