I know of people nowadays - being named Vlad. Or Joseph. Time will forget 'their' relative contributions. Who knows: perhaps some day we also will see Donalds again.
You are missing the most important fact it isn't Adolf that has been Knackered it's Hitler is Knackered do you hear about anyone with the name Hitler Himmler Goebbels Goering Hitler's father name was Alois he was just as antisemitic
Never having lived in a German-speaking country, I've got no idea, but if those names were at all common, I'd expect them to continue to be so.
The 'most important fact' is that Adolf Hitler was the one whose name is associated with the Holocaust, whereas Alois Hitler had been dead for many years by then, and was not responsible for it.
But Hitler was a served in WWI never higher than Corporal and Goering was a WWI Ace and I didn't mention Rommel he served in WWI under the Weimar Republic they were antisemitic to WWII happened because Germany lost WWI and because HITLER GOERING GOEBBELS HIMMLER EICHMANN BORMANN were sadistic murderers for christ sake Magda Goebbels poisoned her six children a day before Germany surrendered Rommel proves my point he was the only one who killed himself to save his family from being murdered and he had a death mask and death marker you can sit on the same rock he sat on to bite the Cyanide Capsule so he proves there is a good Nazi's but he was a Nazi because his loyalty belonged to Germany and his family
I doubt that it was widespread. It was always one of the rare names and yet it still exists as both a first and last name. Couple years ago I met a woman named Adolf.
He ruined the name with his nonsense. He was so quick to say the ideal aryan race is blonde hair and blue eyes yet he embodied none of that. He was a hateful sexually confused and frustrated man who thought behaving in this manner would hide that infact he was homosexual. He hated himself.
Its the sensitivity of the west now. If you talk about the 20's 30's 40's people just think about nazism. How can it not? Its in the media all the time.
Yes sadly people will discriminate against you for your name. I watched a prison documentary one time and it interviewed a flamboyant homosexual black man whos first name was adolf. That guy never had a chance at a normal life.
For a time... I mean Napoleon was hated even more after he was defeated, now he's a national hero in France, and a rare but acceptable name. When US troops leave, same will happen in Germany.

Rommel is the only good Nazi
Yep, just like the Swastika and the toothbrush mustache.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZAIyWH4LYegThe name could make a comeback well before the mustache.
Although Adolf Hitler wasn't born in Germany, I do think no one should name their child Adolf.

Unfortunately yes. It's a fine name.
If I met a child with that name, I would assume it's a family name
Yes it has, he also ruined the charlie chaplin mustache
Maybe. Of course that is a reason.
But there are lots of names that only really old people have and that no child today would ever get. That is normal.
Its the sensitivity of the west now. If you talk about the 20's 30's 40's people just think about nazism. How can it not? Its in the media all the time.
I would say yes in the sense that I cannot imagine naming any of my pet or future children n Adolf
Since he single handedly killed millions of Jews and created the second world war I'd say the name is doomed to never be reused ever.
That's my dog's name... I don't see the problem like my rabbi neighbor does

I don't see Hitler becoming a mainstream hero in Germany, in the same way Napoleon is in France, somehow...
Permanently no, but it’s certainly toast until we have the next world war and a new villain rises.
This name should NOT be used again. For the sake of the child, the family name, and if you dear humanity.
That reminds me...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lb5zUG9UzFELol well... yeah man. Are you going to name YOUR kid "Adolf?" I'm sure not.
