What Girls Said
You do not have to go to church to live life with high morals and ethics. I do pray, believe in karma and miracles. I read the bible and it's a great book. I've read the Koran, too. I lived in Thailand and studied Buddhism; read The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying. I learned how to meditate from monks in Nepal. I have traveled to 21 countries always observing their religion and being respectful of cultural/religious practices for each despite different views. I went to church growing up and decided to be saved and baptized again at age 12. I was baptized Catholic at birth. I'm also educated and love science. Knowledge is power.
Understand that you will make mistakes and sin often. But remember that God allows us to make our own decisions. Something that resonated to me in church last week was “who are you doing this doing for?” in regard to deciding whether or not to do something. If you would be ashamed for God to see what you are doing then trust your gut and don’t do it. However, as selfish human beings, we do choose ourselves most of the time.
Luckily for us, we serve a forgiving Father, but I mess up a lot. A LOT. It is only human to do so. But every day is a new day to strive to make the world a more loving and peaceful place. Do not judge others for what they choose to do, for we all do things worth judging, God’s judgement is the only that matters.
I don't know. I do follow the Catholic/Christian belief but I am not all that into it. I would just say that to be a good person in general to have peace with yourself is to respect yourself always. You have to be firm with that. Don't let others take you for granted or step all over you. But always remember to share with others. I'm not talking about money donations. I'm talking about volunteering and giving your time to others in need. Spread kindness because genuine kindness is actually a hard thing to come by
1 John states that if you don't have pity on those who are in need the love of the father is not in you. It also states to not forsake the fellowship of believers in Hebrews 13. Helping others is a good start but in order to be the best that you can be you would need to go to church regularly. (I know covid is a thing so don't be stupid about it but go. virtual if you need to).
Also I assume you've already trusted in Jesus?
That's the problem. I have to go to church regularly.
I'm not christian nor do I believe in god but the bible says your body is the temple of the holy spirit so I think you can be a good christian even if you don't go to church. From my experience with my mom I would say don't be a hypocrite (I'm not trying to offend you), if jesus teachings are about love then try to be as good to other people as you wish people were with you. Let your actions talk and not your mouth, as an atheist that's what I think a good christian is
That answer lies within yourself and your personal relationship with God. We can give you all links and personal guidance we can. But in the end it's up to you to find that for yourself. If you're looking for answers I would suggest that you pray for guidance and pay close attention to what you think and feel. Be open to the possibilities and accept that the answer your looking for may not be easy. Focus on what you feel is right and not what you want to hear, and at the end of it I promise that you will find the peace your looking for.
As a member of the church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints. I have had to go through this process hundreds of times and where it can be difficult I promise it I always worth it.
Learn to love yourself. You do not need self help books. Just love yourself, be positive, show love those around you, work on attracting a positive atmosphere at home and in your heart. Enjoy life. Love life. Be kind and genuine to others. You don't need church or a book to tell you that. See the world with a fresh pair of eyes. Instead of seeing the negatives, see it in a positive new light. Love and light. ❤
Good words. Thanks :)
hi you will not be Saved by going to Church, be careful with people who pretend to be Christians.
To be a Christian:
Read The Holy Bible and follow what THE LORD JESUS CHRIST Said always. Follow His Commandments, and His Laws in the New and Old Testament, go and read what HE Said in Matthew 5 about The Law and in other Books on The New Testament. Remember HIS WORDS HIS WILL.
wish you the best
Oh, man, wrong person to invite to your question.
I'm staunchly agnostic and very much not a fan of most organized religion. Definitely not a fan of most Christian denomenations.
To me, being a "good Christian" just means be a good human. Be kind, be compassionate, be ethical, etc.
I'd recommend reading from other religions.
Nothing like context and a bigger perspective to keep you honest.
I agree
This is such a hard question to answer. I'll start by saying no offense is intended so please don't take it as such 🙃. Okay, so you seem to think that just anyone can become a Christian by saying they are or acting like it. There is no such thing as being "good" enough on your own and however much you try it will all be useless!! Going to church has little relevancy to whether you're a Christian or not, although most Christians do want to go to church to have fellowship. And, yes, the Bible commands no adultery, which includes ALL sex. I know you didn't want a lecture but it just breaks my heart to see some of the answers people gave and the misconceptions they have.
