Does the "I dont want to see this" feature hide the comment or does it actually delete that persons comment?

If it actually deletes it holy shit GAG has become so fucking authoritarian. If you can't have a simple debate with someone without them deleting your comments what the hell is GAG, a platform to ask questions, exchange ideas, and have civil discourse, even good for anymore? We really have to do something about all these sensitive snowflakes that want to live in their own bubble while at the same time spewing their delusions at the rest of society.

If its harassment fine i am totally on board with that and also blocking a person as well the moderators can easily look into it. But to deleting comments just to win a debate or deleting comments so they don't look bad when you provide sources of information? That is just censorship.

It’s weak when askers do this. Happens most in the political and how do I look. The political askers want a narrative and when they lose a debate poof, there goes something proving them wrong. The how do I look is left with a 8s and 9s from desperate guys because the honest 4s and 5s get removed. So the asker can show others : look everyone thinks I’m sexy.

It's deleted which is total BS. I see some really good comments that get removed by the asker because he/she simply doesn't agree. E. G that legal boxers guy removes all comments that don't agree with him.

It creates an echo chamber.

I think GAG added this option becuase a lot of mods left the site. I was a mod 2 years ago , left and just returned and 90% of the users back then are either gone or no longer use the site.

Like if it actually hides the comment for only you and no one else it would actually be a very smart feature and effective one. All the people that are easily offended and don't want their bubble disturbed can easily just not see it anymore but everyone else who has a brain can and come to their own conclusion

You can’t have one without the other. Either we can handle it ourselves, or we have to rely on mods or admins that may not do anything at all.
