In an event for California GubernatorialCandidate Larry Elders, feminist and #metoo activist Rose McGowan, alledged that Jennifer Siebel Newsom, who worked at Harvey Weinstein's Law Firm called to ask her what they could do to "make her happy" (get her to shut up about Weinstein).
It’s hard to say, but the fact she’s effectively blacklisted herself and ended her career in Hollywood over these accusations says something. Hollywood, corporations, the media and government are all in bed with one another, often literally.. so I can’t say I would be surprised if she was being truthful.
She’s not a feminist or a me too or an she. But I will agree, I don’t want to hear a fucking thing from women without the proof being provided UP FRONT, no accusations, no innuendo, no, he did this but I felt it was this… COLD, HARD, IRREFUTABLE PROOF, that whiny leftist cunt Christine Blasey-Ford taught me that.
Rose McGowan isn't a Republican or a conservative, so there's no benefit or gain for her politically to lie, like if the person that was making the accusations was a lifetime political hack.
McGowan is probably also going to be shunned in Hollywood for the rest of her life for speaking out against Newsom (even though her career wasn't active now anyway), so there's no benefit or gain for her professionally to lie either.
Then you have Newsom, who's an extremely terrible governor, but a slick politician. Why would he have his wife herself directly reach out to McGowan? That would be political and career suicide, and he cannot possibly be that stupid.
So based on all of that, my initial "smell test" tells me that there's probably "some" truth to what McGowan is saying, because Weinstein IS a slimeball, and Newsom's wife DID work at the firm that represented Weinstein. However, Newsom and his wife also can't be that directly dumb. So there's got to be more to this story, one way or another.
While I can believe it, I won't believe it if the only news source that you have is Breitbart.
Breitbart is often about as factual as the Weekly World News's coverage of the love child between Hillary Clinton and the extraterrestrial.

However, McGowan, by lumping all Dems with Newsom's wife is 1) incorrect, 2) emotional, and 3) career suicide. Her career may have been stalled anyway, so, who knows? maybe she was paid by the GOP for this. That saddens me to write that because that just shows how fucked up everything's become in politics.
Anyway, the bottom line for McGowan, her career as an actress is now pretty much over. Expect to see her on Newsmax, America One, or Fox News as a commentator. I wouldn't be surprised if she gets a TV pundit show at some point on one of those networks.

I'm always a bit skeptical from anything coming out of Hollywood, but she has been proven correct with regards to Harvey Weinstein, and in this case, she has several pieces of evidence that support her claims.
It also passes the smell test - Newsome wouldn't have met with her directly about something like this - he's not that politically dumb. Of course he would use a go-between. That's how bribes are done, and it's a routine thing in both Hollywood and in politics.
Harvey was a major donor and very influential with "the right people", so is it at all hard to believe that he was being supported behind the scenes by the same people who were benefitting from him politically and financially? Not a bit.
I agree with the entirety of this. The only part of McGowan's story that bothers me is she alleges that the "go-between" was Newsom's wife herself. Newsom is an absolutely awful governor, but a slick politician. He can't be that stupid. If he is, all the more reason to recall him. There's only one thing worse than a politician who engages in bribery and blackmail: A politician who engages in bribery and blackmail, and is terrible at bribery and blackmail.
@NYCQuestions1976 No, I could definitely believe that part too. He'd want to send a woman, but it would have to be someone he really trusted. And, remember, this is BEFORE the Harvey story blew up, before most of the media was involved, so I'm sure that, at the time, the risks didn't seem nearly as high.

This is true. Plus, as I wrote in my response, McGowan has nothing to gain politically or professionally. She's not a Republican or conservative, and Hollywood is going to bury her for speaking out against Newsom.
@NYCQuestions1976 Her "Hollywood" career was over as soon as she broke the news about Harvey. Even though it's clear that she was telling the truth, the fact is that she cut off a LOT of money and influence to some very powerful people, and she didn't have the clout to get away with it, so she's now unemployable by Hollywood. It's hard enough for women who are 40+ in Hollywood, but with this kind of black mark, you can forget it. And she's only too well aware.
And as you said, she's not a conservative or a Republican - at this point, she's just fighting for what's right, at great expense to herself. She could have taken the bribe and shut up, and she'd still be a Hollywood darling and a friend of the Left - but she stood up for what was right. I have to respect that.

Contrary to popular belief, slavery was a very small factor in the Civil war. And it wasn't split north/south.
The Federal government could have outlawed slavery at any point they wanted to. They did that AFTER the war had started.
Think about that for just a minute.
When the states were leaving, it was still legal. They didn't care. They weren't in a rush. Lincoln was known to be against it but, he was president for two years before the emancipation proclamation.

The Confederacy wasn't about keeping slaves. It was about states rights. It was about the constitution America was founded on.
It was about liberty, and the right for the people (granted at the time that meant rich white men) to choose their own governments.
Had the south won, slavery would have been decided state by state. And I gurentee still outlawed in a short span of years.
Had the North wanted slavery gone so bad, they would have passed state laws against it in 50 years before the war ever came up. Lincoln sat in the Whitehouse for well over a year before he banned it. . .
They did that to improve their chances in the war. Not because of some moral purity.

Rose McGowan is far from perfect. She was all "BELIEVE ALL WOMEN!" until Asia Argento's abuse and statutory rape came out (she groomed a 9 year old boy and eventually had sex with him) and then all of a sudden Rose was like "Eh, let's hear both sides!"
But her heart is usually in the right place when it comes to this kind of thing. It's just wasn't as black and white as she liked to think it was, once her friend became involved. Funny that.
