Take into account that most of the money spent into space exploration is used to pay people and create jobs. The only money which disappear is the fuel and the rockets, excepted SpaceX who reuse every rocket/ship many times ✨
Whether you want it or not, space is the next step of human evolution. As Tsiolkovsky said, Earth is the cradle of humanity, but one cannot remain in the cradle forever. The better we're prepared for it, the better it'll go.
I agree, I think we'll see colonies on Mars within the next few decades or so. I can't imagine what kind of politics we'd have off world, since we won't be separated by invisible boarders on Mars:)
@GJ2154 There will be borders, since people who will go there will probably be from different countries space programs, and they'll probably go to a different region each. Sure, at first people there will work together, because they have no other choice. But as their populations grow, they will separate again to work on their own colonies.
we need to worry about our own planet first and only put money into safety reasons like asteroids and such. we’ve discovered as much as possible that doesn’t really benefit us lol so.
Yes, until the free market can take over. Sometimes the state has to pay for innovation in the early stages before it becomes profitable enough for the free market to invest into it.
Space exploration may not bring any benefit to humanity now beyond scientific research, but in the long run it will pay off. Especially when we mine the valuable minerals in asteroids.
yes, the private sector really can't do this so this is a good use for government. they should get out of most everything except defense and road building.
Earth is mostly empty. You could fit every living human being in my one county in Texas. We don't have a population problem. We have a tolerance of tyranny problem. If we can't dethrone despots and make gnostic ideology extinct, we don't deserve space.
@Flower7 They will do everything they can to dominate the earth. That is their ultimate objective. Space satellites -- and armed ones -- will help them achieve that.
@Apulu_3 I know you're young, and I love how optimistic you are... but competition is a thing that exists, unfortunately; and we would be naive to ignore it.
Yeah. That is what human nature is and it is difficult to change it. I was just saying my opinion and I won't mind whatever country does it because it will be beneficial for human race at the end only. A human is doing it not an alien so I would be proud on that person who can resolve such things not caring of nationality.
@Apulu_3 Well, that's the thing. Nationality is very important to the Chinese. Certain cultures are more inclined to be generous and compromising with others, but the Chinese are not one of them. Power and Prestige and Winning are values that are very important to them. So, it's not about "everyone on earth working together for the greater good.". Because they just want to dominate the earth.
@Daniela1982 Yes we can say most but saying all is wrong from my side. And it in not necessary that common man don't do it because they don't have power but because their thinking isn't so negative.

Yes as long as idiots keep messing up the planet, that research might save our lives or all the generations after us

Yes, because it shows that being human has no bounds, curiosity is endless, and imagination is more important than knowledge.

I think it's good. You can find some rare elements and minerals in space, that can be very useful.
Certainly better than spending it on most of the shit they are spending it on right now. Especially foreign aid..
They are currently doing both though.
It’s not like they’re replacing foreign aid money with space money.
Yes, until the free market can take over. Sometimes the state has to pay for innovation in the early stages before it becomes profitable enough for the free market to invest into it.
Yeah except it's all a load of shit. The real government has been doing interplanetary travel for about 4000 years.
With Alex Jones?
Good comment. Shocking poll results!
sure, cause the entire society profits from the results of the things we find and learn along the way.

Yep the earth is fucked better start working on the escape plan
Yes as it's good to explore the natural world and a lot of the money we spend for that goes right back into the economy
yes, the private sector really can't do this so this is a good use for government. they should get out of most everything except defense and road building.
earth is getting over populated and we need to send out some of us
Earth is mostly empty. You could fit every living human being in my one county in Texas. We don't have a population problem. We have a tolerance of tyranny problem. If we can't dethrone despots and make gnostic ideology extinct, we don't deserve space.
Yes, unfortunately. Because if we don't do it, China will.
What would be bad about China going into outer space?
Let them. They can be the ones killed by radiation from the sun and cosmic rays. Maybe since they own half of America they have more money for it too.
From my side all that matters is continuation of human race. If we make this continuation a competition then it would never work.

Not all Chinese people have that mentality. We can't blame the whole country for some stupid politicians.
@Apulu_3 All that are in power do. Only the peasants don't.
@Daniela1982 Yes we can say most but saying all is wrong from my side. And it in not necessary that common man don't do it because they don't have power but because their thinking isn't so negative.
Nope the government is spending way too much money
I think so too! I feel like space exploration is more of a luxury thing, not a necessity.
@Flower7 Yes Flower I do agree and they need to stop spending
and worry about Healthcare and Veteran's and foolishly spending
Yes I wish the government spent more on space exploration. I would rather that then war.
*than war
Better than all the other stupid shit our gov invests in. So yes.
Absolutely. But there still needs to be a balance.
