This happened to me once (someone blocking me over disagreeing with her opinion). I was being as respectful as I could when I replied to her answer. I wasn't insulting her or anything. I wasn't trying to start an argument with her. I just wanted her to explain her reasoning. It's too bad she blocked me. Some people cannot handle criticism at all or people disagreeing with them.
Could be a lot of things. I don't block people but I will quit replying in fights a lot because the energy used to argue over nonsense isn't worth it anymore. It's exhausting having to feel like your fight matters at all. Sometimes you just want them to go away.
A lot of the time it could have also been a fight that was on repeat, most people are so passionate about their point of view they will argue with the same points over and over again. Many people can over exert themselves and block people out of pure stress and anxiety
Happens to me quite often. The user will either block me or delete my opinion just because I respectfully disagreed. Just yesterday a user who goes by Embrace The Pain deleted my comment after I easily picked apart his argument, like a punk. Some people panic when you challenge how they think because they know they don't have a compelling argument to argue. I don't know why people like this bother using this site.
Because they’re stupid and reactionary and not interested in debating or taking in any critical information.
Plus their identity is wrapped up in their erroneous beliefs & tightly held cultural ideas & notions, so when you criticize their position &/or ideas they take it super personally & as an attack.
That plus their high school probably didn’t offer a class in debate due to budget cuts.

Usually that person already feels like they are “losing” or don’t have a strong or convincing basis to their argument, so their way to “win” is to censor their opponent by blocking them. Or to put them down but calling them names. It’s a way to satisfy their ego because their ego couldn’t handle losing
A poster who calls himself @Andres77 did that to me not that long ago. Called him out on some misinformation he posted. He didn’t like that. Insulted and blocked me when he realized he got busted and I wouldn’t let him change the subject. That’s pretty standard for some of these guys. I just wish I remembered the names of the other people who did the same thing. I would gladly call them all out.
Because they can't find any other things that make sense in what they believe. as my friend says "The moment you take it personal and emotional, you lose"
The people who do that are insecure. When someone questions their opinion, and they realize that they may be right, they cannot accept that, and the easiest way to avoid further stress is to block that person.
Lol not everyone is mature enough to handle disagreements and other people's POVs respectfully.

They dont like having their ideas challenged and are threatened by others who know more and who are more well versed in the topic they are debating.
It's a cowardly way of punishing you for disagreeing with them.
I think it happens. I have been blocked here for stating and defending my opinion.
They try and block you because they - most likely- have nothing of substance with which to fight the logic of the opposing debater.

u I block when the name-calling and insults start, mostly without notice. Most times they’re previously identified trolls.

In my experience, people who say that they don't do something, usually do.
They either dont have an argument or they already destroyed yours in their opening statement but you were too stupid to realise.
