I've seen very few women do this well. We're living in a time where gender roles are being called into question and nobody seems to have an answer.
Women now are expected to get jobs, stand up for and provide for themselves, not look for anything from anyone, be mentally tough AND maintain their femininity... At least in the eyes of men.
Some women make their identity that they sleep around (which is fine) to the point where their proud of being a gold digger/con artist/slut but I see a lot of these types get jealous, angry or sad when their not viewed as feminine as other women.
I've seen chicks who take pride in acting as much like "men" as possible and I put men in quotes because these particular people's opinion is acting like a bitch, being rude/short with people or having a short temper is this masculine trait that they can use to sort of compete with men. Maybe because they think it makes them more attractive by being relatable or they think it makes them look confident. Meanwhile these types of women will dress in feminine ways and it comes across as insincere/pandering.
I find this to be a really interesting topic and wanted to know what people think of it.
How do women live in the modern world while maintaining their femininity?
It’s constantly some type of competition, in my experience. I mean, the whole femininity vs “masculinity” thing. Or, being independent/modern vs traditional… Let me try to explain.
I was raised with both lifestyles I suppose. My dad was big on being successful and independent, getting a career and being able to support myself. My mom was big on finding someone I love and settling down with them, and being a mom/wife. My dad was very stern and independent. So is my mom, but they know that life is constantly a competition and you have to be like that to survive in the 21st century lol.
In modern times, getting a career is obviously a necessity to survive, because it’s not like how it was in the 50s, where women immediately married and the husband supported her completely. So, career driven women have to put on a competitive face, and be independent. That can be seen as bitchy to people, I guess.
Obviously, times changed and women are expected to be independent and strong, so they put on that “masculine” personality to survive in modern days, because everything is a competition. To be successful and independent, you have to prove it… Being very “feminine” attributes such as being timid or submissive, that won’t cut it in the real career world, you won’t go anywhere like that. You gotta put on that “bitch” front to get your place in a good career role, negotiating prices for housing, or simply doing adult things, etc etc.
I don’t really know, I think some people just accepted it or adjusted to the way it is and it became their personality. Some women just weren’t raised with “femininity” maybe? I don’t know.
I mean, being very “feminine” or the genie note attributes stated earlier, such as submissive or timid, is kinda seen as weak, dependent, immature, or undesirable to some people. Some men absolutely love it, but society kinda pushes you to “grow a spine” and be similar and as competitive as men.
That’s just my experience and perspective. I might just be spewing a bunch of rambling nonsense, but it makes sense in my head lol.
I think the most important thing is for our society to respect how women decide how they want to show up as women. Accept that this is going to change and evolve with time. All these men keep trying to step up and define femininity only with themselves in mind. “Ladies, be more feminine because that’s what men find attractive. Me, me, me.” No. Guys like Cam Newton promoting gender roles and soft femininity and look how he treats women he gets involved with. He’s a 2x baby daddy but refused to marry the woman who gave him 4 kids. Cheated on her with some IG model and spawned another child with that girl. Complete disrespect. Now he’s out here talking about his standards for women? It’s ridiculous. And people wonder why modern women don’t listen when guys like that speak. We SEE with our eyes how there’s little to no reward or benefit when we comply with what mens standards of femininity are. And yes, this is more common than it is an exception.
Now having said that rant, I do believe women can strike a proper balance with their feminine and masculine energy, and vet a decent guy who won’t have intentions on using and abusing her femininity. That’s part of what I help women do.
