Do you miss the days when people would accept facts and discuss the implications?

It used to be that even in politics people would accept facts as facts. Reasonable debates could be had over the implications of those facts, but opinion didn't override reality.

Some recent examples of the latter would be the 2020 election, the effectiveness of masks and vaccines, the proportion of Americans who support gun regulation, etc.

Prompted by the lyrics of this song (there are probably more bicycles there now, but at the time it was a fact).
