Is the war on drugs what killed support for Republicans among black people? If so, why did it not have the same effect among support for Democrats?

First I’d just like to say that Donald Trump is literally the only Republican in recent history that I actually support.

Bush was corrupt. Started pointless wars. Ballooned the national debt. All in the interest of mega corporations and not the American citizen.

Reagan was also a neocon and globalist. He sold our soul to China. He was a big believer in free trade. He was all tough guy talk on the Soviet Union, but he didn’t actually contribute to their collapse or do basically anything useful. The Soviet Union collapsed merely because they mutually assured their own destruction through their own failed policies.

Also Nixon was a crook obviously. With the whole WaterGate scandal.

So who does that leave? Donald Trump being the only good Republican/politician in recent history?

Eisenhower might’ve been ok, though I’m not informed enough to make a call conclusively.

As I mentioned in my other post though, Trump actually did things for black people. Criminal justice reform, pardoning people with unreasonable sentences, opportunity zones, record low poverty and unemployment, etc.

But getting back to my earlier point though, I do suspect the War on Drugs is what must have killed support from black people among Republicans.

But then again, that also doesn’t explain how Democrats still retained their support among black people.

Since Democrats themselves did play a role in the War on Drugs as well.

Bill Clinton signed the 94 Crime Bill, Biden played a key role in sponsoring the legislation and drafting it up.

Not to mention the War on Drugs was almost predominantly carried out by local Police Departments and city councils, not federal DEA agents.

Meaning that Democrats were still just as guilty, if not more, of mass incarcerating at their directive.
