Why do some people think they deserve respect simply because they’re older?

“Respect your elders.” Okay that’s fine, to an extent. Respect is earned, it’s not given to you based on age. What if a 65 yr old man is running around diddling kids? He deserves my respect because he’s older?

The people who you respect showing respect to someone unfamiliar to yourself, you should follow there lead. It's more of a demonstration how much you respect the immediate person you respect in requesting the unfamiliar request. That's with larger families

With strangers the old are fragile folk. Just sight enough to shoot a gun too so don't let your guard down. Help them when you can 7 out of 10 It's a nice encounter. Dip out on the last 2.90. Give them the benefit of the doubt but fuck them if they abuse you.

If they treat us with respect and prove their experience and maturity in their character, they deserve respect of course

It’s just how our society is structured. You respect people who are older and more experienced or people in positions of authority unless they give you reason not to. I think it’s a good rule of thumb to follow but nothing is obviously absolute.

I don't respect all olders. I only respect good people. A lot of older people are complete fkwits or over entitled. They don't deserve respect.
