I would say yes because the people on the right are still American Patriots. The people on the left hate this country they constantly say how bad we are they even ask the question when was America ever great. And Mike Obama even said when Brock was president that for the first time in his life he was proud to be an American. It's like really not proud to be American your whole life until you was in the white house for those 8 years. Another contrasting difference between the right and the left is the two P's - policy and personality, the last focus is on personality orange man bad look at all he does and has said. The right cares about policy that's the bottom line the policies that affect my family that affect my bank account. Policies like the open border that threatened my family safety so get out of here with your personality BS and focus on what's important. But all they do is play the race card and say quit being racist these are human beings seeking asylum. It's like yes immigration is fine but legal immigration legal legal legal legal legal immigration not illegal.
Ever since Trump appeared on TV fondling the American flag, most of those on the right think that is a great idea. I served 20 years of active duty plus years of reserve duty, all over the world. I have always been proud to fly the flag and to stand for American values. It tears me apart to see things that the right is doing which tear down the USA and cause other countries to no longer trust us.
On January 5th and 6th, encouraged by Trump, thousands of his supporters, including the Proud Boys (a right-wing extremist group with a violent agenda; primarily misogynistic, Islamophobic, transphobic and anti-immigration; and many members espouse white supremacist and antisemitic ideologies and/or engage with white supremacist groups) and Oath Keepers (a far right anti-government militia whose leaders have been convicted of violently opposing the government of the United States). Trump spoke near them repeating his false claims of a stolen election and encouraging them to attack the Capitol to prevent lawmakers from doing their job of validating the election results, and so they did resulting in more than 2000 rioters illegally entering the building and beating innocent victims with many things, including American flags attached to poles.
Trump resisted sending the National Guard to quell the mob, and repeated his false claims that he was actually the winner. The actions of the far right desecrated the flag.
"Belong" I don't think that's what Betsy Ross was thinking about when she was stitching the stars and stripes together. As is the case with everything else. A clean and pure symbol of patriotism and unification has been warped by political agendas and other corruption. Read Plato's republic or John Milton's Paradise Lost, This isn't the first time that the human rase has encountered this sort of issue.
It's because the conservatives prioritize structural security while the liberals prioritize behavioural security. Structure is about security and money and behaviour is about ethics and food and health care.

Democrats and woke leftists characterize anyone who disagrees with them as "far" right. But their far-left ideologies are as oppressive and authoritarian as the furthest possible "right-wing" dictatorship.
It seems to me that only people who hate America hate what the flag represents. Many of them would prefer this despicable flag:
I have 1960s/70s liberal values. I'm not conservative, crazy, woke, modern liberal, or neoliberal. But I love America and work to preserve the ideals set forth in the Declaration of Independence and Bill of Rights. People who want to tear America down are enemies of liberty and are, therefore, enemies of humanity.
Generally, conservatives believe in the founding principles of the USA - the Constitution and the Bill Of Rights. For EVERYONE EQUALLY. They might not like what America has BECOME, but they believe in the ideals it was founded on. That's why you see so many flags, but such distain for the government.
And, generally, the left HATES the founding principles of the USA, which is why they avoid any association with the flag and many openly express their hatred of America - EXCEPT for a few months around national elections, and even then, many still avoid red white & blue.
No. They just think it does because they say they are "patriots".
They may think they are patriotic, but they're anything but.
This is not patriotism.

Included in the list of events I've designed are political conventions and campaign events for both parties. There's always an American flag on display at them, regardless of party. The difference I see is that Republicans will make the flag the entire backdrop for their event, while democrats will just display it on the platform on a simple oak flagpole.
The flag is for everyone. Many on the Right though are ex-military or have a family tradition of military so they have always flown the flag. Flags are at major political events on both sides.
Some on the far Left have a hate for the US and the flag but these are people who have never done anything in their life. They do though perpetuate the thought that the flag is not to be honored among the Left.
In the US, people on the conservative side of the spectrum do tend to be more outwardly patriotic, which includes showing the American flag. Liberals, for some reason few of us understand, prefer criticizing the country rather than outwardly show patriotism.
Please don't do that. 😔 Please, don't let them take something meant for us all in your mind. That's you letting then win something that shouldn't even be a fight. The American flag is for every American. MAGA flies it like that because they think it makes them more patriotic, but I think it makes them more idiotic.
Keep in mind this is coming from a middle right conservative, but I think Trump is the most corrupt politician we have seen in many decades.
Try putting the Union Flag on your home in Wales. Probably not going to get much comment. Do the same as a person with fair skin in some parts of Bradford, Birmingham and London and they'll assume you're hard right.

No, you are not correct. The flag belongs to all Americans , however it is mostly people that are conservative that love America and are proud to be American. Liberals hate this country and are working to destroy everything that makes it great. The flag is a symbol of liberty and justice for all. Democrats want to put their opponents in prison.
The extreme right has attempted to appropriate the flag and somewhat successfuly but I've found their understanding of what patriotism is is incredibly shallow and narrow. They also are heavily invested in nationalism as well despite its dangers and their limited evidence to back up that "Were #1" chant that I find laughably childish.
The American Flag is for everyone and I'm old enough to remember when Democrats also loved the American flag and flew it with pride.. but that was back before the party got taken over by Communist.
People that love America fly the American flag. Most left-winger hate America but are too much of a pussy to leave so they fly BLM, ANTIFA, Ukraine, or LGBTQ flags.

The right seems to be the only group that holds the flag near and dear. So many people are wrapping themselves in the flag to have free speech as they say that they hate the country that the flag stands for! But they won’t leave! Imagine that!
