What are some places you never wanted to visit, but ended up visiting anyways?

How did you end up there? Did you end up liking them?

I have a few.

GRAND CAYMAN (loved it)

Got a few days off work in the summer, so my parents started looking at places that could be visited for just 3 or 4 days, and found a cheap last minute deal to Cayman.

BARCELONA/CATALONIA (it was okay)

Were supposed to go to Portugal, but my dad randomly suggested Barcelona at the last minute, because it was cheaper and we thought it had better accommodations. I saw that we could day trip to France from there, so I thought, "why not?"

SERBIA (it was okay)

Had to pass through it on the way to Greece

TAIWAN (loved the island, but not the people)

Were originally supposed to go to Japan, but thought it would be too much culture shock. But we still wanted to go to Asia, so I randomly started researching Taiwan, and realized it's more interesting than I originally thought.

MAUI AND LANAI (loved it)

Dragged there by my parents.

JUNEAU (loved it, except for the fanatical Leftists and tweakers)

Were supposed to do an Alaska cruise, but then Covid hit, so we decided to just to fly to Alaska for a few days. I thought Juneau would be boring, but after researching it further, I discovered there's more to see then I originally realized, and you would get around easily without a car.

ROME (loved the sites, hated the people)

I'd been trying to visit Italy for a while, and everytime we were about to, our plans fell through. This time we were gonna go to Puglia, but decided on Rome at the last minute because of cheaper prices and a direct flight from CA. And we also saw that we could visit most of the country from there. And we thought it would be safer to visited a more touristy part. Yeah.
