I've spent months at a time living in motels while working out of state. It completely drives me nuts living in a motel that long. Those four walls start really closing in after just a few weeks. If I could handle it I'd be very rich, because I could make a ton of money doing that work. But I could never handle living like that.
It's not just the size that bothers me. I could deal with living in a small cabin of similar size in the woods. But the motel environment never felt like "home" to me. It sucks working long hours and not being able to go "home" at the end of the day. It's like there is no relief from work.
They are basically the same thing. It's just a name. In practice there would be no difference between living in a hotel vs living in a motel.
There would be some nice things about it. You don't have a house to clean. Housekeeping can do it for you. Free cable in a way. If you have the money, you could order room service if it's available, so you'd never really have to leave, except to go work or the doctor's office, or any other priority.
Honestly though, I'd rather have a home. Homes might be high maintenance, but at least you have some place to call your own. I can't even go back to my home right now. It's a long story, but let me just say, it wasn't safe for me there. I'd give anything to live in a home again.
People often say home is where you make it, but sometimes no matter where we are and no matter how hard we try, the place we're in just won't equal up to the home we once had. And when the day comes you're out in the world alone with nobody, you realize just how much you miss what you once had.
So yeah, a hotel room would be nice for a while, but nothing beats a nice comfortable home.
No that's crazy expensive even if you're rich it's not really smart to just blow money on a hotel for no reason. I'd only go to a hotel on vacation and preferably in a country where things cost less than in my country. Luckily that's almost everywhere.
I stayed in hotel many times (vacation) but last year was I stayed in stayed in a hotel for over a month (for many reasons). It gets tiring after a while. So, no, I wouldn't really want to move there even though they are very comfy and you have staff at your service 24/7 but my heart belongs at home. That's where I feel more cozy.
I have stayed in hotels enough to know that a permanent stay is not for me. A suite would be like a small apartment after a while but with maid service. Some people stay longterm on cruise ships which have medical, food, services and a small room perhaps with a balcony. That also is not for me as a few weeks on a cruise ship is enough for me.
No but I can understand at first you think it be great to where you don't have to clean up, bed is always made, cable TV and other things but after awhile it might suck not having a kitchen and some rooms are kinda small. It have to be a really nice suite or a penthouse to really consider moving in or staying.
As of now, I'm considering moving into a suite. Just temporarily until someone stops fukin with me and let me give the deposit and see the room... without saying it's already taken as soon as I get there to see the room. :)
Sure, if I could afford it. Some apartment suites are extremely opulent, and the services and amenities are superb. But only wealthy people can afford to live in those.
If I was offered permanent residency in a hotel for life at no charge to me, I could get used to being comfortable there and having free continental breakfasts, especially if they were healthy and fresh.
I have done this out of desperation when I was younger some 20 odd years ago and had no where to live.
I would get tired of living in a hotel room for any length of time. It's okay for business or vacation purposes, but not to live.
Somewhat. I like being home as work takes me everywhere from spring through to fall season.
Vacation only. I can't feel free and do the things i wanna and usually do. Plus! I need my garden and the view i have on the back of the house.
I had to live in one for work for 2 months…it wasn't bad…no responsibility cleaning or cooking! Those were the +
Only if I could have the entire floor... penthouse suite
I’ve considered it for if i lived in Vegas to work
I would go absolutely NUTS if I was forced to do that!
Just vacation. Is rather make my bedroom into a suite.
To live there? Hell no!! It's bad enough I was forced from a huge 3 story house into this tiny 2 story place!!
Must be nice to be rich!
I AM smart, but my aunt wasn't!!
I definitely stay in hotel while moving to other cities.
I've done so for over 4 months at a time, but in those cases I was so busy that I didn't care much. But it is definitely nice to have your own laundry and kitchen facilities.
I had to when my x and I split for a while it was like 3 months till I found the right place to lay my head down.. it was a short stop and close to the boys.
I thought about it, but I have too much stuff to actually be living in a motel room, and I did come across a motel in Maryland that the weekly rates were better than renting an apartment
It’s almost getting to that point the way housing costs are getting
maybe an airb2b would be cool. i think those are sometimes for sale. hotels not so much.
Wouldn't want to live out of one like residency (not mental health [NO PUN INTENDED]) too informal for me.. yes I heard of dayrates but it's for super upscale really are euphemized as 'living like a hermit' but very posh lifestyle.. not very useful but have an ordeal out of a town with surprise Atlantic City trips sporadically and other super-duper promoter weekends which I have a backup crew and others by the 'Star Rating' of the trip host usually the Saturday breakfast hour till a little after dinner or unless we go private.. This year so far after a complete drought for a decade {Might be some punishment in one of the Caribbean Isles) starts of with a PromFever-esque type with a young freestyle rap woman from Worldstar (In this case Using the #LIVEDOTMEAPP feature all weekend in full parody mode) you know the surprises and trimmings.. Hope I get invited one day
I could never afford it. But to live in a place where they clean my room for me sounds magical. I don’t need a kitchen because I can’t cook anyway. Right now I sleep in what used to be the dining room of a house so a hotel sounds amazing
Stay there on vacation only. I like my house with a pool much more. Easy to have sex parties at my house as there is lots of room for people to fuck in
I did once when a city bus hit our house and we had no place to live when I was about 10 years old
On Monday we got 10-15 inches of snow
Definitely vacation only but not to move into. Unless it's an apartment for work and its big enough
Staying in one on a vacation is enough for me.
I can't afford any of that, sleeping on the side of the road will have to do
No! I am currently moving from air b n b to air b n b. I find it to be quite annoying, always having to move every few weeks.
Trust me it is and the current air b n b I am staying at I can’t cook and I hate eating out
I heard that you are able to purchase a cabin on a cruise ship. That could be more interesting!
I’m (hopefully) eventually having kids. We’d need multiple rooms for various reasons. lol
It would have to be a pretty nice hotel room because I would prefer a nice house or a real apartment
I wouldn't live there, I would like to own my property.
Not really to be honest. Staying for a bit is nice, and something I would totally do, but ideally I'd like to own what I live in
depends on the other people in the hotel how loud and noisy they are and depends on how much the room is a night
Honestly, yes. Some of them are very livable, even the basic ones. Though now that I think about it, it would probably cost the same per month as an apartment, so I'd much rather just get an appartment.
i pretty much live in hotels half the year
Why not but the problem is the budget and privacy
I have too much stuff. LOL
Well, since my house is fully paid for, that suite would have to be about a quintuple suite or bigger, and be available to me at no charge. Otherwise, I'll stay where I am at - for now.
Nope because I know I wouldn't be able to design the room to fit my personal style because I love to imagine how my places look and you obviously can't do that with a hotel room.
Holiday/Vacation only... Thank you. xx
No, what would I do without a garage or basement?
I though about it, but then hôtels are quite expensive where I’ve been. Maybe a cheap hôtel with decent quality?
I would if my job required me too
Pros :
Doordash is pretty much a free for all
Cons: foreigners
Where are we vacationing to?
No - too small, no kitchen, no space.
I’ll stay in a hotel only on vacation
Only while on vacation!
If cash wasn't an issue then why not
I wouldn't want to miss the boat though lol
Vacation always
No to expensive
Yes please.
1 room on my own
Never.
Maybe for a short term.
