I relax and let go of things when I head down to the beach and hit the surf. But when I can't do that, my favorite thing is to take off on really silly flights of fancy with whichever of my most playful friends happen to be around at the moment. What do YOU do when you really need to cut loose and decompress?
spa day! But at home lol
I try to treat myself with true gentleness and a laid back nature.
Other times I try to replace the feeling with positive response like cleaning or working out. Something to build a good habit because staying still isn’t always the best. Gotta keep it moving. Even if it’s just a nice walk. Anything that stimulates the mind, or makes you happy.
So either
rest
or
keep yourself engaged. In a positive way :]

+1 yEither listen to records or, if I have them handy, have a bash on the drums. Or, if I have one handy, smuggle with my girlfriend and eventually make flippy floppy. I THINK I still remember how! Ummm, insert tab D into slot C, push in, pull most of the way out, repeat several times until it stops feeling good. Right?

@FunkyMonkee Well, then perhaps you won't be interested in my plan...

What's that, lots and lots of sex with a guy you met online? You're right! I'm not interested in guys. I'd rather have girls!
- +1 y
No, silly. I’m inviting you, my sweet Monkee Man, to chase ME all around the Mulberry Bush …. just for fun and entertainment!! I’ll sing the song and you do the chasing!! lololol
- +1 y
I see!! Well, we had a few Mulberry trees in my neighborhood when I was a kid and I was quite adept at climbing them! I got at least 20' up. Nobody else would ever go that high.
And, the reason I couldn't join you in the word play question you were dealing with yesterday is because the asSkISSer has me blocked. - +1 y
How is that possible that anyone would ever block YOU my dear @FunkyMonkee? I simply do not understand the sheer temerity of such an act... Well, let that word play issue be damned! Please just join me for fun and games in the Mulberry grove and we will not allow any foolish people to join in our fun, HUMPF! 20' up it is!!
- +1 y
A number of people here have me blocked because of their own stupidity. It's their way or nothing so, one of us chooses nothing! Sometimes, I get tired of arguing over stupid shit with those that are hard of thinking and block THEM!
Fine with me! Mulberries, it is1
And, to think that I saw it on Mulberry Street. - +1 y
TBH, I think they must not get your unique mix of humor and insight... You are a gem!

True! Quite often, I'll just make a simple comment with no malice intended or anything else non-virtuous and they take it like I just said I wanted to rape their dog with a railroad spike!
Dig! Dad was pretty much the town historian and he had a ton of slides he took of things as they are now and probably as they were years before and would give presentations once in a while for those that were interested in seeing what the town was like decades ago. He'd been living there since at least the early `30's and died in 2006.
A few years later, I was told of a FB page that's all about my town. People that were brought up there and probably still lived there, would bring up their memories of what it was like there when they were kids. Well, back in the late `70's, there were a rash of fires around this one street in town! Eventually, it was discovered that one of the local fireman had been setting the fires! In the world of psychology, it's quite regularly known that most people that become firefighters do so BECAUSE they like to see fires! (If you're very much into seeing naked women walking around, what better place to get a job than to be a DJ in a strip club? I like records so, a perfect job for me would either be, DJ (preferably in a strip club), in a record store on radio or in a record pressing plant. It JUST makes sense!) - +1 y
So, while they were discussing how it was this one guy that was setting all the fires, I commented about it being a well-known fact that firemen ARE firemen because they like to see things burn. all of a sudden, EVERYBODY on the page is jumping on MY ass because I "claimed that ALL firemen like to see things burn"! I NEVER SAID, "ALL" firemen!! They all kicked me off the page for NOT saying what they believed I said!! Only ONE person contacted me and wanted to know what the fuck just happened? She lived half a block away from where all those fires were and has long since known not only who set the fires but that it IS a well known fact that firemen like to see things burn! I even did an online search to prove it to them and back up what I'd said and it only took me about a nano-second from hitting "enter" to come up with the exact data I was talking about!!
The same thing happened a couple years later on my band's FB page! My singer died a couple years after dad and it was his band but, I'd been a member since early 1980 so, I know most of the history of the band and have more of our recordings than anybody else. One night I was there chatting with a number of fans and band members and, I don't recall what I said but, it had something to do with a past band member or something that happened at a gig a long time ago, I guess. Suddenly, as before, everybody's panties suddenly got in a bind over whatever it was that they believed I said and, they got really pissed at me for saying it and kicked ME off my own band's FB page!! Seeing as how I'm the longest standing member of the band (25 years) and Bob is dead, it's basically now MY band and I'M getting kicked of MY OWN band's page? What's next, kicking Paul McCartney off HIS own page because of something HE never said? - +1 y
Well, all of that would not doubt make anyone really angry. My college degree is in the field of communication, specifically in the analysis of the written and spoken word... what you are talking about has to do with the listeners' ego stances. Essentially, bc they could not get their own biased egos out of the way, they could not be objective enough to hear what you were really saying. Then, on top of it, there was mob mentality involved, which is what got you removed from the group's presence. In the end, the result is the same and I'm not sure the reason why really matters. I have come to the conclusion in my life that I hold in abeyance the world at large and search for seeking, open minded people with whom to make my real connections. @FunkyMonkee there is a great deal that I admire about you, in particular. Just sayin'...

Well, thank ya quite nicely, ma'am! Back at ya!
As for open minds, Hi, there!
I just thought of a book that you would probably REALLY love!! I had the paperback edition 20 years ago and they've since greatly expanded it and have it in hardback, now. I know what it looks like and can probably find it somewhere but, I can't think of the exact title. It's a play on the title, "Roget's Thesaurus". I remember the first word is, "Roger's" but I can't come up with the other word.

Actually, I find darkness to be very restful. I used to be afraid of the dark, but taught myself to love it instead.
