You are far from a strong independent woman. I hope you know that lol. You are weak, and rely on men for free food. Your literally a prostitute... men pay for your time. Your not worth that. Some desperate guys may think so. Doubt they would put a ring on it.
I pay when i take my wife to dinner every time. Probably for the last 15 years, she might have paid 5 times. It's called being a real man, having a set.
I take care of her car too, cut the grass and take out the trash.
She knows if anyone tried to harm her there would be no hesitation in me attacking them even if it meant my death or life in prison.
When we go out together I drive because even though she is a perfectly good driver, this is the way she wants it.
Guess, what, she holds up her end of the bargain as well.
the lefitst educators and media have produced a generation of neutered young men. I hope this can be reversed.
If a dude doesn't pay on your first date, automatically, take a cab home.
1. You should show your date you can and will do nice things for him. Guys want to see a little effort too.
2. You should prove you're financially stable too.
3. Guys like being pampered too.

They do put in effort. Women put way more money, time, and energy in their physical appearance for a date.

@mistixs so do men. Do you have any idea how much suits cost? I think men pay as much for their attire as I do. Besides, no one is forcing you to put on make-up, I never wear makeup either.
@Kirah a man has to pay for just 1 suit and he's good for any date. A woman is judged if she rewears clothing.

@mistixs I can guarantee that men don't pay much attention to whether or not you're wearing the same clothes as last date.
And actually, people ARE forcing him to pay. If he doesn't pay, there is no second date. But if a woman doesn't put on makeup, that isn't necessarily a dealbreaker.
@Kirah If a women doesn't put on makeup and she still looks pretty (not really much to ask for is it?) men will respect her more/like her more. Women put pressure on each other to wear and groom in different ways... men don't give 2 shits about nails and all that rubbish.

@mistixs doesn't mean they get to avoid all the risks and liabilities OF dating. women dress and wear make up to compete, they don't do it for the men-but for each other. So date better dressed & better cared for men-don't pretend it justifies you exploiting them..

I think a lot of guys stress about paying for your own food is because so many people get screwed over by women that just want free food. Also YES I KNOW, not all women do this and I totally agree, it isn't all women and it's probably the minority but it does happen to a lot of guys and it makes people more paranoid. Besides paying for your own meal isn't that hard...

Why should anybody prove that he's gonna put an effort? How the hell you're gonna show that you will do the same?
Why should someone prove that they're financially stable? And how's that gonna prove it?
Nobody who does not know you well should require to pamper you.
Fuck traditions! Traditionally, you should sit at home and wait for your father to choose you a proper spouse. Where do you draw the line to that?
Just say that woman should be able to walk away without any real cost, if she decides the man's not an adequate guy.
1. You as the woman should be making an effort too. Unless you're saying that your time is more valuable than his, and therefore he has to compensating by paying for the date.
2. Financially stable people are often that way because they are smart with money. What is YOUR indicator that YOU are financially stable? Or are you just looking for someone to leech off of?
3. If it's a first date, it's likely that he doesn't know you. What makes you think you deserve to be pampered by a near-stranger? Also, what if he wants to be pampered?
4. What if your date is progressive? As far as this whole "I'm traditional" crap, is it in every way, or is it in ways that only benefit you?
I don't even totally disagree with you, but you're some kinda ridiculous if you think the left is responsible for the most government intrusions into freedom of expression in the US. You need to study your constitutional history.
You have freedom from government sanction under the Constitution. You don't have any reason or right to expect that other people won't respond negatively to what you say in our capacity as private citizens. That has nothing to do with infringing on your right to say such things.

Nice take, just followed you. I agree on the idea of paying, I like to do it to show I care. I mean I paid for a female friend, I dunno if she got the message, she thanked me for it and there was a brief pause and a moment so to speak. Shame some random person rolled up and ruined it by butting in to the conversation, but I hope she liked it.
I think it's chivalrous and frankly it's a nice thing to do. I wouldn't be on a date / paying for someone if I didn't care, so I think hopefully it confirms it right?

There are lots of women who are more than willing to split the bill so why would a guy even want to date a girl who expects him to pay when there are so many women who don't?
And the same girls who expect guys to pay for dates have often sent nudes and hooked up with men who didn't have to spend a dime on them. A lot of the women who claim to be traditional only like tradition when it suits them but have no innterest fufilling their end of the bargain. They expect men to be the romantic providers but they dont fufill their traditional expections of being chaste or modest.

It's funny how many rules girls are allowed to have. You know that women do work nowadays, and often a first date isn't very good way to judge anybody. Even if the guy has the ability to pay, has the mind that he is going to pay, I think a fist date should be split equally nowadays, even maybe the girl should offer to pay.
All these rules that people live by come from a time when women didn't make much money, or any at all. And they lived off their husbands. These rules are being broken left right and centre, all bets are off nowadays.

Lol. I always pay for a first date. But I never ask a girl who expects it out for date #2. I don't care how hot you are, an attitude like the poster's is such a turnoff. I will always cover the tab on a date, but a girl just makes the offer tells me that she is a modern, sell sufficient woman. She doesn't come off as self absorbed or arrogant. She doesn't feel that she's "owed" something. Last I checked, it's 2016. Men don't own women, we don't pay their fathers money to marry them anymore. Women are not prohibited from taking care of themselves anymore...

I don't date guys who doesn't pay because If he doesn't find i'm worth a coffee he aren't worth my time. And the things "Oh then it's a double standard" isn't true. I spend lot of money on clothes, jewelry, bags, make up, shoes and all other stuff when he only show in a jeans and shirt (doesn't take more than 5 min and doesn't cost lot either...).
Guys wouldn't even think of giving a second date to a girl who show up in a jeans and flat shoes so I don't think of giving a second date to a man who don't pay for my coffee.

There was a mytake not long ago that were identical to this one.
I commented saying that I will only pay for a date if we both agree or sign a contract/agreement declaring that I am guranteed sex afterwards at my place becuase for all I know you could be using me for my wallet. How do I know if your gonna actually blow me off after first few dates to date or fuck other men, that won't be money well spent would it and i would lose even more money when other women do the same to me also. If a women wants a relationship with a man then she should contribute instead of been self entitled becuase she owns a vagina.

I've heard girl after girl complain that a recent date wanted to go halves on the first date, and it wasn't long after that that she discovered that he was simply too much of a drag to be around.
Him wanted to split the bill on the first date is a red flag. It means at the very least that he is trivial, and more likely that he is with a low income and needs to count his pennies.
Him fully paying on the date is usually a good sign that he is stable and not trivial.
Reason 5 your cheap or broke and you want his money!
If broke there's no shame in it just be honest!

If you expect me to pay just because i'm a guy then if it looks like its not going to work out it's fair for me to excuse my self to go to the restroom and just leave you with the bill. Though i'd rather not go to a restaurant for a date in the first place it just puts a lot more pressure on both of us when you don't really know each other yet.
If possible Id much rather bowling or going to a snow dome or something even a picnic or coffee.
