How to look less intimidating and scary?

My mom met a guy a month ago and she brought him over to meet my sister and I last week. He told my mom he was scared of me, and that I look intimidating. I don't wanna scare him away on my mom.

I don't understand. I smile a lot, I'm super friendly. Is it because I'm tall?

He's a nice man. My mom deserves prince charming.

Any tips on how to look more "friendly"?

Look, I am not sure there's a solution. I've always had the same problem. I dress nice, and I'm outgoing and friendly, but people have always been afraid of me, or intimidated by me. I'm told it's not so much the way I dress, or even necessarily what I say, but rather how I say things, or how I move. Subtleties in tone, and body language, and just the odd unfortunate choice in words. I've been trying to fix that for ages, and yet, I am who I am... You know?

I don't think there's anything wrong with you. I think people are just getting a vibe that isn't really there. Look, just try to be yourself, try to be nice, but if they still get freaked out over what should be nothing, I guess it's their loss. It could just be in that guy's head. Besides, you seem fine to me.

I have social anxiety disorder, so I tend to act awkward and insecure sometimes. Maybe that's the cause.

That's probably it. I have a friend with social anxiety disorder, and he says that sometimes people are creeped out by him.

I took the liberty of looking at your pictures, I saw nothing scary or intimidating, well, except maybe your dog haha. Assuming I was dating your mom, and I'm old enough to be, and I met you, I cannot imagine myself being "scared" lol. Of course I would not expect us to be friends right away. My stepdaughter and I sure weren't - she didn't like white guys at the time. But scared, that's just silly.

I can only think of one possible explanation a grown man might be scared but I don't want to go there.

Has anyone else before him, ever said they felt intimidated by you?

One other man said that both my sister and I were intimidating.

:) and by the way you have a pleasant look to you. He may be kidding but if not then it may be your eyebrows. Let them be a bit more full and natural and use a softer color lipstick. That is all I got lol. Good luck
