Technically, I would have personally spoken to the person and requested that they never did that again. If this was in a work environment, I would have given a warning, but if it occurred again, I'm reporting sexual abuse.

Nah, you just tell them that that's your girlfriend and move on. One time I was at a bar and a guy bought my date a drink. I walked up to him and just said "hey, that's nice of you but she's my girlfriend so sorry about the drink but please don't do that."

Now, that may not have ended as peacefully as it started, but at least it shows that not every guy is an over protective asswipe.

Buying a drink isn't the same as slapping a girls ass. Nowhere near. Which is why most boys wouldn't get mad at a guy buying their mother a drink but would if he slapped her ass.
Guys approach me all the time when I'm out with my boyfriend too, but he just comes along and says sorry mate, jog on, and they go away. If he slapped my ass, that would be totally different. I don't even get how you put buying a drink in the same category as slapping some girl in a bars ass.

Because it's kinda a sexual thing. If he can slap her ass, why not grab her boobs? It's not that different. Ok it's not as sexual as grabbing her ass and having a little grope, but it's the lowest level of it, so just don't do it. Buying a drink is different because it's just a drink then you can have a quick chat over the drink and see how you click.
A guys ass isn't really as sexual as a girls ass usually. Just like a guy with boobs isn't really as sexual as a girls boobs haha. Or how a guys stomach with a sexy v line is a bit more sexual than a girls stomach. It's just different I guess, because we have different bodies.

Only that's not true, slapping a guy's ass isn't any less sexual than a girls ass. Grouping a girls boobs is more sexual for a couple reasons.

It takes way more effort to lift my hand all the way up there, and touch them before you can react. Plus it's so much more high profile. A little slap on the ass while your walking away from a conversation or walking past a girl you know is so much more discrete.

Then there's the fact that I'm not talking about grouping, I mean a light, flirtatious slap.

And if you really put some thought into it, a drink is a much bigger deal than a flirtatious gesture like that. When a guy buys a girl a drink, he want's to fuck her. It's that simple. The whole mentality from a guy's perspective is "I want to fuck you so I'm buying you a drink so that you will talk to me and I will say things to get you to like me and hopefully the alcohol will make you lose enough to make something happen tonight"
