In America, a moderate use of alcohol would be two drinks for a man and one drink for a woman. Apparently, men are at risk for alcohol related problems if their consumption is more than 4 drinks a day or 14 drinks per week, women at 3 drinks per day or 7 drinks per week.
This consumption rate combined with an ever-growing tolerance can lead to alcoholism.

If you're mental and physically dependant on drinking alcohol. So if you don't your hands are beginning to shake and you get really moody. Even if you drink a lot and every day, that doesn't make you an alcoholic directly. Just like you can be a alcoholic if you drink 2 glasses a day. Only if you're dependent on it.
it's not about volume it's about whether or not you can stop drinking any at all. if you NEED that glass of wine at the end of the day, you're an alcoholic.
when i drink it's to get silly and have a good time with my friends. do i get drunk? certainly, the volume of booze i've been known to pound back means there's only one consequence to that action. but it's only because i want to.
It is not the amount you drink but how it affects you. If you are too hungover to do things , do drunk, using money you can't afford to buy drink, endangering yourself or others, becoming aggressive or depressed on a regular basis then you are an alcoholic. If you are dry then go on an out of control 4 day bender every 3 months you are an alcoholic.

An amount that I'm currently in denial about.
cdn2.crushable.com/.../...ka-on-Will-and-Grace.gifI would classify alcoholism as a form of dependency. If you think about alcohol every time you are stressed out over something, every time you are bored, every time you are emotional or if you think about drinking alcohol on a regular basis - you may be an alcoholic.
Both my dad and my grandmother were alcoholics. It isn't so much the amount you drink. If you drink one drink a day and have to drink that one drink a day, you are an alcoholic. It depends on how much the alcohol becomes something you need, something you crave. It is one reason why I don't drink a lot, because I don't want to get that reliance. It was not fun growing up with an alcoholic in the family.
I think the psychologists put it at 5 or more drinks on the same occasion on each of 5 or more days in the past 30 days. I tend to buy a 12 pack like every two mouths and drink 3-6 beers from that 12 pack each time I have a drink. So I'm not even in the ball park.
personally i drink only energy drinks like Monster
Alcohol is a big no, and a threat 2 overall health basically... even a glass of wine is a danger in my opinionAs much as @soccerchick4eva drinks... haha <3 <3
And to asnswer your question, drinking it in excess and as a way to deal with issues makes you an alcoholicIt's not about the amount.
It's about how regularly you want it, and how much you miss it when it's not there.Drinking early mornings on a weekday makes u an alcoholic.
If not having alcohol makes one feel like dying then that makes them alcoholic!
If it affects and interferes with your life. I think that's the actual definition
People here seem to not understand that there's a thing called being a functioning alcoholic. Thank you very much.
maybe drinking everyday and be drunk most of the time makes of you an alcoholic
A good indication that someone's an alcoholic is that he/she needs to drink alcohol in the morning right when he/she wakes up
Drinking to the point where you need alcohol to survive and be functional is being a alcoholic.
If you need alcohol or always get drunk you might be an alcoholic.

Drinking everyday and drinking to get drunk when you drink
Unless you are constantly drunk, and can't function whitout drinking always, then you're not an alcoholic I'd say.
