Boyfriend wants to break up because he needs to find himself alone?

Hi, my boyfriend at are both 21 and university. We’ve been together for a year and a half. The night before, I had expressed to him I felt unwanted because he hasn’t been reaching out as much anymore. I wanted to talk about it and he met up with me today just to immediately say we should break up. From my perspective, there’s been nothing wrong with the relationship and we’ve always gotten along well. Disagreements were handled quickly and maturely. He says he needs time alone to find himself and I... don’t want that to happen. While I understand where he’s coming from, I guess it was so sudden and I don’t want to give up without trying. But he’s been so adamant about this and not wanting to listen to what I have to say. I ask him what I can do to optimize this relationship and he just says he can’t do it anymore. He says he still loves me and care about me but he wants to be alone. We see each other once a week. Should I just let it go?

When the mind is clouded with any kind of ambiguity we cannot see things as clear and somethings cannot be expressed or shared because it cannot be understood by any other person it's his journey and he alone should walk through it.

And he didn't say anything that anybody did wrong he is in stress about something so let him have his space and let go him.
If he comes back soon enough accept him if you like or you can move on its really heart breaking but we need to accept and experience as nothing much can be done by holding him it will make it worse so for sometime separate respectfully with mutual understanding and the bird always returns to its nest

He told you he wants to break up. I understand you isn’t want it to happen but You don’t get to decide if it happens or not. He has a right to self determination. Same as if you told him you wanted to beak up. He didn’t say you did anything wrong. There is nothing for you to fix. He wants to be alone.

You have sensed odd behavior from him a while now. Perhaps He should have told you sooner. Maybe you should have asked. Maybe he was not sure until now. ... In any case you will have to move on now.

Yep, let him go. You should never have to convince someone to stay with you. You can care about or love someone but that doesn’t mean the relationship is right for you or that it makes you happy. When he’s says he can’t do it anymore and has been pulling away, that tells me he’s unhappy. If he’s adamant he wants out, you’ve got no choice but to respect that.

I suggest you let him. If you have to force something to work, maybe it's not meant to. Let him come around on his own.
