Do you think these statistics on divorce frightening about considering marriage?

Pearl recently had an female lawyer on her show, who shared some statistics on divorce to the general audience. In the first 2 minutes, she mentions two things that should make any man with common sense question getting married.

The first was that 85% of divorces were initiated by women with only 15% being initiated by men. She also mention that the reason men divorce is often due to infidelity and their wife bossing them around and treating them like slaves. She then highlighted that the average time for these divorces happen between 6 months to 3 years into marriage.

I said yes it's frightening, but I think the point of marriage is that you love your partner more than some generic fear of ending up alone or of being a statistic.

If we found another statistic, like men are xx% unlikely to provide emotionally or xx% unlikely to step up chorewise/parenting or xx% likely to cheat, I don't necessarily think that whoever files for the divorce first is at fault for 'ending the marriage.'

I think women can treat men just as badly, at the same ratio. I think traditionally men have a right to be angry feeling used 'financially' should it not work out, but divorced women are also plenty angry being used as a personal cook, maid, nanny, caretaker, and sex doll (because let's face it, many husbands expect sex on tap, and some bad ones feel entitled to cut corners on consent).

While husbands still share the load, I do think that we still live in a 'men help out' society, where some tasks are still gendered, ie 'emasculating' or 'mans work only' and a task is just a task. Couples have to negotiate instead of getting into cyclical arguments where nobody wins.

Marriage is like a hurricane there is a lot of blowing in the beginning & when it’s all said & done your house is gone. When it comes to marriage there are three rings. An engagement ring, a wedding ring & suffering. The statistics are frightening however they are true & I think the bond between two people is stronger if they just remain a couple for life without tying the knot.

Take example of a Wall Street guy I know that got divorced. He used to make insane money but whatever he used to do went away and he had to retool. He ended up in some job making like $100K per year. Was trying to build himself back up.

Wife filed for divorce. The wife DEMANDED that he pay almony based on what he USED TO MAKE. He explained to the judge that he doesn't make that any longer. The judge at the hearing did not want to hear it. Told him, you either pay or I will lock you up. He said I can't pay what she is asking. Judge locked him up for 30 days. Had to explain to his employer. This happened last time I heard like 4-5 times.

Never mind the wife got most of the assets in the divorce. She wants more. The guy didn't even cheat on her. She divorced him because I quote "the spark is gone".

My brother from another mother all I can is is prenup or don’t get married in the first place & to be honest I think the bond is stronger when two people are just a couple.
