Naturally, in the case that the break up is mutual. We had one of my wife's friends over for a glass of wine because the guy she was seeing was supposed to sleep at her place but broke up with her instead. She wasn't much in pain, she told us she was more or less planning the same even if they get along well (ie. she thought they were good as FwBs but not as committed partners) but was surprised that he beat her to it.
So I had to sit through my wife and the friend discussing what happened. I honestly think it doesn't really matter who broke up with whom if it was mutual, but my wife again had to go on the tangent that what the guy did was tasteless because he should have come over and let the girl break up with him for reasons...
I even got the stinkeye because I later pointed out that I can understand how her friend was expecting to get some before/after the break up talk if he came over to her place, but by coming over to our place she was keeping us from out own Saturday night plans.
