How can my boyfriend be so careless?

We've been dating for about 8 months. Last week he told me that he would introduce me to his mom for the first time. I was so excited and prepared everything. I bought her flowers and some treats. He showed up to my house saying that his mom went out with her friends already and he forgot to tell me. I was so upset and kinda got mad at him. We still went to get dinner. I talked to him normal the whole time and tried to be understanding because things happens. He took me home right after dinner even it was still early. He said he felt tired and needed to go home and rest. He even offered to pay me back the money that i spent on the gifts for his mom. I rejected and asked if i can come and see her the next day. He said i can but he'll be sleeping, i can go talk to her myself. I got mad again, how could he be so careless? I don't speak Spanish and his mom doesn't speak English either. He said i can use sign language or he'll tell his mom to learn English. He looked mad too but i dont think i did anything wrong. What should i do about this? Thanks

From what you explain, he does not seems to be interested in getting you to speak to his mum yet. Involving family members would kind of mean, taking the relationship to next level. He may not be interested in doing that or not ready yet for this, and hence trying to avoid.

I dont know what's going on in his mind. He knew how excited i was about meeting his mum. Then he showed up and said she can't make it

I guess, you need to check with him if he is really serious about you. meaning having a serious relationship. It is one thing to like/love someone, but another to have this very person as your life partner.

I think something might have happened between him and his mom. Maybe they had a fight? I would just let it go for now and then talk to him about it to see what's up.

Nothing happened between them. He said his mom called him earlier to let him know she won't be able to make it. He "forgot" to tell me because he was busy.

Ouch. Maybe she doesn't like you or maybe he doesn't want to get that serious with you. If find our which it is asap so you know your next move.

I think, based on your description, that he is sloppy, and careless as you say. And mom can't be too far behind or she would want to meet you as well.
Likely there's some dysfunction there.
I wouldn't get mad about it. Date the guy and see where it ends up. Don't be so fussy, just chill and let things be. When the time is right it will happen.
