First of all this post isn't for hurting someone.
It's true that some women are sexually attracted and open to dating a short man, but a quick poll of your friends—or any group of adults, for that matter—will quickly confirm just how stigmatized short men are in our culture. For reasons that betray logic, short men get the you-know-which end of the stick and are ostracized when it comes to partner selection. While this sexual preference—or prejudice?—is also at work in the dynamic of sexual attraction among gay men.

On the dating scene, women religiously adhere to their ‘tall, dark and handsome’ trinity. Even if you are loving, caring and understanding, but happen to be short, just get lost!

In my experience, women hate to hear this, because it makes their entire gender sound extremely shallow and superficial.

Whenever I’ve talked to female friends about this reality, the following conversation has inevitably occurred:

Me: Women don’t like dating short men.

FF: That’s not true. I bet there are a lot of women out there who love short guys.

Me: Have you ever dated one?

FF: No….

Me: Would you?

FF: (Uncomfortable silence)

At last , if you are a decent human being and someone just don't like you for just of your height then he/she is not worth of your time.

It's just preference. I am not attracted to short men and that's just that. Just like I'm not attracted to men who is way taller than me. It can and may hinder you from growing romantically. I'm only 5'3, so dating somebody shorter than me would be an injustice for him when I'm not attracted to that at ALL. My dad is the same height, and my mom was 5'9. They were attracted to each other. It's best to go and be with somebody who you feel comfortable with. It's not right to pressure somebody into dating you. It doesn't mean they don't like you. It's just means that they don't want to take a chance at something that wouldn't last.

You being a 'decent' human being is not enough. Everybody is different and won't be attracted to the same thing. The problem I see with men shorter than me especially have an issue with, is that they can't accept that not everybody is going to be immediately attracted to them like that. One time in middle school I had a friend who claimed he had a major crush on me and chased me for the whole entire school year. Literally. I was scared to walk the halls alone. Because he would stalk me and always be there! I had to run away from him! But he wouldn't stop. Eventually, he apologized and such and I forgave him. But he wouldn't take NO for an answer. Height overall shouldn't matter if you love them romantically. But if you cannot find yourself being with them or able to provide what they want and seek, it will make for a miserable relationship. And somebody at some point either cheats or dump someone.

I totally agree with you. There is no way to continue a relationship if someone is not attracted to someone. Decent stands as a general term and stalking someone every time is not decency.

That's it. My dad was always attracted to taller women, and even though my mom dated men around her height she was always attracted to shorter men. I may not have agreed how they met and did that led to my conception. But they clicked when it came to attraction and been with each other 24 years until her death. It's very possible. But it's just not for me. I don't like to hurt men's feelings and neither would I want to get hurt. But I rather be honest than lie.

Most women prefer tall men and it is true. I am one of them. But it doesn't mean that height is the most important or a deal breaker if a guy is short. If you don't know someone at all and you only see them for example passing by, looks is the only thing you can judge. We have different preferences and we can tell if we are attracted to someone just by looks or not but it changes. If I meet a guy who is "my type" and he is a jerk, I am no longer interested in him. Honestly, I've always fallen for the opposite of "my type" in real life. It is not only height that makes you interesting. It is sense of humor, confidence etc. and I have seen short guys dating many pretty girls. When it comes to me, face is the first thing I look at and I care about it the most. And look at some famous short men. Yes, they are short and so many women are crazy about them. For example Bruno Mars, Prince (RIP), Josh Hutcherson.

I'm not going to broach the whole height issue because I think it is a part of the sexual dimorphism that people look for in the opposite gender. I personally would, and have found men who are on the shorter side attractive, hell I saw one last night, but I would like them to be my height (5'4) or a bit taller. I find the whole "tall, dark and handsome" thing really funny. At least in my experience, dark isn't really a thing, most guys find fairer guys either more or just as attractive (i'm one of them). Handsome is kind of a given, do guys get shunned for wanting a pretty woman? no, but girls do.

I always date guys within roughly two inches of my own height (5 foot 7.5). Eye contact matters to me. I don't like talking to someone's nipples anymore than I like looking down at the top of their head. I can see myself making exceptions for exceptional personalities, but usually guys I choose are close to my height, often the same height or shorter. I don't have this "I need to feel small" or "I need to feel protected" thing going. If anything, a guy that is too tall or bulky makes me feel like a different species. I don't like it if guys look like they can rip off my neck with their bare hands either. *shudder*

@anon08 Yeah, not my type at all. I'm very average fitness wise, so I can't imagine being together with a total gym nut. Casual outdoor recreation yes, but the level of devotion he has to his muscle tone is something I don't share. Apart from that, I don't find the muscles attractive, so going for this guy would probably be a mismatch. Not that he would ever hit on me to begin with, so LOL I doubt this is a dilemma I'll ever have to face.

It's not wether short or tall that matter more than personality. It's because it's the first front.

How? well, when going after somebody, the first criteria is appearance. It's not because of being shallow. It's because that is the first thing you get of somebody, and personality takes longer to get to know.

So when someone gets to the personality, you already sifted through appearance. This is applyable to both girls and guys.

It's after you knew the personality and you realised they are assholes yet stay because of appearnce that you are called shallow.

But it's not superficial there are a lot of men who love women with a big booty and what happened to the lady's that don't got a big ass, there are men that still find them attractive. For me its a bit about height.. i like the idea of having a guy that could stand behind me and have his head at least over my shoulder being like my personal sexy guard... also im standing at a ok-ish 6ft 3 so when it comes to shorter guys of 4ft to 6ft... i feel like its more hastle to have a emotional relationship with or physical... not saying i hate short guys because some of my pals are short cities... just.. i like to feel smothered by guy

I am not judging you , by my personal experience I have seen there are people who judge other only for height and the whole prince charming thing is true. Our subconscious mind take most decisions without us knowing about it and it builds it's input database in young ages.

But that dose not make it an iron rule
If someone is funny, interesting and has depth that are bigger then his size he absolutely has a chance
They may need to work harder, but hey that will be the same for everyone, if your far from someone preference you will need to work harder
A tall handsome dark man will have to work just as hard if his an asshole, maybe not in the first "Hey" but in a short time that will show and if he wants the girl he will have to work for it hard
In the end its not a black and white, its a competition
