Why did I do this after a party?

So i was at this party and my crush was there. I felt very protective and kept my eyes on her to make sure she was alright. It was fun, but after the party we went to the house of someone. Sjhe was walking next to me and all of us were a bit drunk. When we entered the house, there was not enough room for everyone. Some guys just layed in the corner on the floor with a blanket. Others passed out because they were drunk. I grabbed the hand of my crush and claimed a bed with 2 others. Yes 4 persons in a bed, i know it's possible believe me. There was not a lot of space and net to us on the floor were also people. I again felt very protective.

I tried to keep distance between my crush and me, because i wanted her to feel comfortable. But then she asked 'can i lay with you?'. So i took her in my arms and made sure she felt relaxed. It was an amazing feeling to hug and hold her like that. We have given each others hugs before, but never like this.

She fell asleep very quick. But after a while i noticed something. Not about her, but about me. Because everytime someone stood up to go to the restroom or something like that, i grabbed her tighter. Just automatically. And when another guy turned around in his sleep, i pushed him away. I didn't even know why. Also when another guy came back from the kitchen, we had eye contact. I didn't notice it at the moment, but apparently i looked at him very dirty. I realized it when the guy said 'don't worry bro, i don't have any interest'.

Why did i do these things? Was i just being protective again? Guys, have you ever experienced this?
