Why do guys do the ghosting thing after messaging? Why not just say if you’re not interested?

I keep encountering what I think are good first dates with guys who will message me afterwards saying how much they enjoyed it.

Then they’ll just go completely ghost after a couple of messages! I just feel like it’s kinda rude. I’ve been on dates where I’ve had a good time but not felt the chemistry so I’ve just sent a polite text afterwards and moved on. It’s not asking much is it?
